Makes this Momma's heart so happy when you ask, "Momma, can I help?"
And you ask a lot.
You are the first to start singing in the car when Rhys is crying. You know singing his lullaby calms him down.
I can count on you to help me put the silverware away after the dishes in the dishwasher are clean. Now you're tall enough to use your little stool instead of a kitchen chair. Growing girl!
Making the bed, picking up toys, putting laundry in the dryer, dusting, helping with the cooking, getting toys for a fussy brother... you are my rock star helper.
What I see in you is a servant's heart.
My prayer is for God to help me cultivate this amazing trait of yours. God calls us to serve Him and each other. There's no question about that truth when you read God's word. Jesus served and did so with His life.
What God tells us is there is freedom in serving. The world tells us the opposite.
The world says we need to rise above service. Being a housekeeper is just biding time until your prince comes. It's a prelude to a castle.
And you know what? In a way, they're right about that. Only the castle we are looking forward to is in heaven and not in Hollywood.
Thankfully, we have a family of servants from which you can learn. Teachers are some of our best servants. They give of their knowledge, time, energy, finances and love every single day. Your dad, Nana and Aunt Carrie are all serving their students every day. Ms. Heather and Mr. Jim help people when they are sick as a nurse and a doctor. We've got an engineer, Puddin', who has spent 44 years developing men on crew and helping keep those men (and women) safe from accidents.
Here's the truth, we are all servants to someone or something. And our JOY as Christians is being able to serve people through Christ.
So yes, my prayer for you is that you continue to grow as a good helper! One day, as I pray every day, you will serve others as Christ commands. And know the freedom of being a humble servant for God's kingdom!
"Be devoted to one another in love. Honor one another above yourselves."
~ Romans 12:10
"Be completely humble and gentle; be patient, bearing with one another in love."
~ Ephesians 4:2
"You, my brothers and sisters, were called to be free. But do not use your freedom to indulge the flesh; rather, serve one another humbly in love." ~ Galatians 5:12-14
