In case you were wondering...

...our photo shoot on Saturday was just about blissful.

Seriously!

Chris had a talk with Aubrey Kate when he got her dressed that morning.  Not entirely sure what he said but I suspect it went something like, "Look, this is really important to your mother.  I understand that you and me kid, we couldn't care less, but we like momma so we're gonna smile and pose and look at the camera like we do care.  And if you do that...park!  Deal?"

Regardless of what he said, she bought it.

And it did help that we were at the Grapevine Botanical Gardens directly next to Heritage PARK.  It's a pretty cool park.  So every time she would start to get all poopy, we'd say, "The sooner you sit still and smile, the sooner you can go play at the park."

And again, she bought it.

Rhys?  His usual totally chill self.  Chris actually thinks he might be more laid back than Aubrey Kate was and let me tell you, that is a feat.  Now that he sits up, he can literally sit in front of his toy bag, pull out toys and entertain himself for close to half an hour.  With some help (aka, momma sitting him back up), he pushes it to 45 minutes.

Totally chill.

So we'd just put him where we wanted him to be and he's sit there.

Getting him to smile was the challenging part.  There was so much to look at and take in, he had a hard time letting go and having fun.  I know that seems like a grand statement for a six month old but Homeboy is rather serious.  He giggles and smiles really easily for us at home but when he's out and about, he furrows that brow and studies everything around him.

But Jennifer showed me some of the pictures on her camera and oh, swoon, he is adorable.  Even in all serious mode.

What I didn't get are pictures of the kids on my little phone to share with y'all.  There was just too much to do and make sure we had.

Like bubbles and marshmallows and fruit snacks and M&M's.  Because a mom can never have enough bribery options.

But I did get a quick video of them, yes, them, sliding down the slide at the park.  You can truly see Rhys' seriousness in this.  Not a flicker of a smile.

Oh well.  I'm grateful he's a thinker.  It'll serve him well.

Turn down your volume before you hit play.  I'm a slight bit too excited.
