Soooo...it's my birthday week.
That means two things:
1) I am old.
2) And there is dessert.
Friday some sweet friends watched AK and Rhys while the adults went out for dinner. The challenge for me in the whole eating outside of my very safe gluten-free kitchen is, well, not ending up writhing in pain for twelve hours. Because of that, I approach it with a gigantic dose of caution. Largely, my options are big chain restaurants with g-free menus or expensive restaurants with actual chefs who know how to prepare a g-free meal.
Expensive chefs are not in our budget so big chain it was.
I opted for BJ's Brewhouse.
And their g-free Chocolate Chip Pizookie.
A pizookie is what happens when a pizza and a cookie have a baby.
Knowing I was gonna DEVOUR this entire plate of fabulousness, I ate a salad for dinner.
And by "salad" I mean some iceberg lettuce and shredded carrots tossed onto a plate. Dressing on the side.
It had to take more calories to eat than were in the actual "salad."
But that was a message my scale did not receive because the next morning, I had gained three pounds.
3.
I sit here today, Wednesday (yes, I'm actually writing this on Wednesday), having JUST lost those three pounds.
Seriously.
To make that happen, I ran Saturday, Sunday and Tuesday. I skipped Monday when I heard my ankles screaming at me "FOR THE LOVE! GIVE US A BREAK!" Today, I turned the 5:30 am alarm off after Rhys got up at 1:30 and 4:30 am. I was just too tired.
At this pace, I will never make my next goal.
(Fat jeans by October 31st...just in case you don't have it marked on your calendar.)
It's not like I have an unhealthy diet. I'm CHEAP GLUTEN-FREE. That's fruit, vegetables, potatoes, rice and meat.
That's it.
No pasta. No bread. And with the exception of a pizookie, no sweets.
No pasta. No bread. And with the exception of a pizookie, no sweets.
I tracked my calories for a week just to make sure I was keeping count in my head correctly...and I was. I eat between 1,200 and 1,400 calories a day.
If I run, I lose. But running doesn't always happen thanks to the adorable baby in the house.
I did great the past two weeks but most of that is due to the new diet I'm on to get rid of this chronic cough. It'a a low fat (no more than 15g of fat a meal, total of 45 a day), low acid diet. No carbonated beverages, no caffeine which means now chocolate, no citrus fruits, no Crystal Lite, no tomatoes or tomato products. They told me I would loose weight and I have 4.4 pounds in 2 weeks. Beats the 1/2 pound a week before the diet. If I keep losing that much a week I'll reach my goal a whole lot quicker.
ReplyDeleteiGive yourself a break and some rest, it will happen. You are doing fine, just fine. I like you just the way you are:)
ReplyDeleteLove, Mom
I still have 10 pounds of twin baby weight...ok, and they are 2 years old now...it's ridiculous. But, I know what my problem is. I habitually need a snack at 10pm. I will be so good and healthy all day long...and then I blow it by eating 1/2 a bag of cheetos. I have no excuse.
ReplyDeleteRemember the good ole days when losing 5 pounds just meant skipping lunch a couple days in a row? Or just running for 10 minutes.
So much harder now!
I really shouldn't complain though. It's still easier for me than a lot of other people.
