The annual fundraising campaign has come to a close. Again.
See 2008 here.

Now. On to 2010.
Last year was horrible. Lots contributed to that but no need to go into all those details now. Let’s just leave it at I almost became one of those urban legends where you print your resignation letter, leave it on the printer for someone to find and drop it.
By the way, that totally happened in our office.
So, “we” were determined to make this year better. We started working in January and went to full on planning mode by July. The thing is this is sort of like a wedding. You can do a bazillion things in advance but when it comes right down to it, a lot of this has to be done week of.
I am happy to report that we had a hugely successful campaign. One in which the powers that be were very pleased and where I did not spend much time updating my resume.
The theme this year centered around football. Apparently, the Super Bowl is being played here this season and that’s got all kinds of people excited. Well, it had people excited until the Cowboys started playing football. I suspect they won’t make it to the Super Bowl this year with a 1 – 6 record so far.
We created a Carnival/State Fair design for the Halloween Finale. Makes sense around here since the Red River Rivalry (aka the OU/TX game) is played at the Cotton Bowl in the middle of the State Fair of Texas. The party was a lot of fun to plan and a lot of work to pull off. Our little group even won 2nd place in the group costume contest. We were “The Game Day Experience” complete with a Concession Stand Vendor and Homecoming Queen.
Shout out to Chris for providing authentic high school polyester costumes.
The other co-chair (the concession stand vendor) and myself feel that after three years, it’s time to pass the proverbial baton on to someone new. I may literally have to quit my job to make that happen since being co-chair of this thing is actually in my job description but I’m gonna lobby like crazy to make it happen. The other co-chair has decided she’s going to attempt to have a baby on Halloween next year to avoid it. Oh nice for her that she can plan these kinds of things. Regardless, we both feel like walking away after our most successful year is the way to go.
Yeah hear that Brett?
Enjoy the photos!

As usual it looks like you did a super job! I'm just impressed at those of you can fit into high school size outfits.
ReplyDeleteDid it bring back your Chelsea Highstepper days, or whatever y'all were called?
ReplyDeleteSo you now own a cowboy hat!! Amazing! The pictures are great! The devil's in the details. Someone came up with these great ideas, then someone's feet had to make it happen. I bet that was you Ladybug.
