So Little E is, as predicted, still in the same exact spot. The girl does not like change. Last week we did a quick ultrasound to confirm that yes, she is breech and no, she can’t be delivered naturally that way.
And please, let’s not discuss the pros and cons of breech vaginal deliveries. I know there are people who fight to deliver naturally even if breech. I just don’t happen to be one of those people. Kudos to you if you are.
The good news is there is plenty of fluid in there so it’s possible she could still turn. We’ve got a week left before my doctor schedules a C-section.
Of course, she could turn after we schedule it. That would confirm Chris’ thinking that she is a very strong willed child. He’s been talking to her a lot these days about how he’s the daddy and while she may win this battle, she will not win the war.
It’s really pretty cute. I just question his resolve after little girl smiles up at him with her blonde hair and blue eyes. My money’s on him being a complete push-over but we’ll see.
Really, I’m fine with a C-section. The way I figure it, the Lord used medial intervention to bring her to us. Makes sense He could use medical intervention to put her in our arms. Just want her healthy so however we have to bring her in the world to make that happen, I’m down with.
But that doesn’t mean we wouldn’t rather her turn. So I am sending out a plea to all 4 of the people reading this. Got any home remedies for making baby turn? We’ll try most anything. We’ve gotten 3 suggestions so far and have tried one unsuccessfully.
And yes, we’ve considered the manual manipulation they can do. Here’s the thing: A) I hear it’s not the most pleasant experience ever B) there are risks and one of those is starting labor. Honestly, I can’t run the risk of losing a single day at work before I have to. There’s just too much going on for me to leave 2 or 3 weeks early. I know I could go into labor at any moment regardless but I’d rather not temp it by forcing E to turn.
Okay, and let’s face it, I’m not one who runs directly toward any procedure that will cause discomfort. I was a human pin cushion for a year and feel pretty content with leaving it behind.
Send in those old wives tales and things you’ve heard your cousin’s sister’s friend did for her last pregnancy. We’ll give ‘em a try and report back!

Here's my (for what its worth) 2 cents: I have a dear friend who would tell you that doing the inversion (turning) was the worst thing she ever went through. And she still ended up having a c-section. Her son also has some problems as a result. If you want the gory details, just let me know and I'll email you. That being said, learn all you can about it before letting them do anything.

P.S. I'm so happy for you!
I looked online and found several people who suggest accupuncture (which you are a pro at), visiting a chriopractor, and inversions (which is sitting on several pillows and then laying back). I tihnk prayer might be the best option! I'm glad you feel good about a c-section. I have had lots of friends who loved their C's and wouldn't have it any other way. God has a plan, its been good so far!
ReplyDeleteI don't have any home remedies put I do have a strong prayer support group and will certainly put that on our prayer list. Tell that young lady that her Meme told her to turn, baby turn. Love you and praying for God to turn our precious baby girl. No matter what "To God be the glory."
ReplyDeleteLove, Martha
It's like when the thing in the Magic 8 Ball won't turn right, just shake until it does. Maybe Chris could shake you up and down for a bit.
ReplyDeleteI am a lurker - I found you through my cousin-in-law, Carrie's blog!
ReplyDeleteAnyway, I do not know any home remedies. I do know several people who tried the manual turning and all of them said they would never do it again (and all ended up in early labor with C-sections).
I also think you have a great attitude about the C-section thing. The way I have always looked at it, as long as you go home with a healthy baby, the rest is just details! Best of luck! I know you are so excited!
I'm a lurker, too!! (friend of Meredith and Chris from Auburn). Just my 2 cents...my friends who have had the inversion procedure done didn't really have alot of success. My sweet baby boy wouldn't budge from his comfy spot inside of me, so we had a c-section for his arrival. I just looked at it like, hey, this was the way God wanted him to arrive for us!! I guess the plus (besides the healthy baby) was I never had to go through labor! :)
ReplyDeleteThanks for keeping us lurkers updated!!! We are very excited for you and will be praying!!
I've got nothing for you, sweetie except that I am all in on C-section because anything else sounds too taxing for you and E.
ReplyDeleteStill praying she is one of those people who will know exactly the right moment to turn and will happily do so when it's the right time.
No baby-turning advise from me of course, but I just wanted to marvel at how quickly the time has passed, I can't believe it's so close!!
ReplyDeleteI have no idea how to make a baby turn. I have no idea how to start labor. I do know DO NOT DO MANUAL TURNING. Terrible horror story. If you want to know I can tell you. I figure as long as she gets out of there all safe and healthy and slimy and wrinkly you're good to go.
ReplyDeleteI have no idea on this subject, except may keep playing the Byrds song Turn!Turn!Turn! Might not help but it's a great song anyway.
ReplyDeleteTell Chris if he takes Adam's advice, he will have to deal with me. Don't want anyone, even Chris shaking up my baby girl (your or Baby E).
Other than that, we will put you on the prayer list in our class. All those prayer warriors have been effective so far.
Love you,
Dad
