Not a bus but maybe a Kia...

We have the crud.

You know the general runny nose but stuffy too. Sore throat that feels like sandpaper. Achy.

And zero fever. I've checked. A lot. In fact, I think I was a little crazy checking for a fever. I actually saw 95.1. Pretty sure that was wrong.

The highest it got was 98.1. Yes, my temperature usually runs low. There's a great story about me in the fourth grade and strep throat. I'll let Mom tell you that one. She still feels bad about the whole thing.

Chris got it first. Came on Friday with a sore throat. By Saturday he wasn't feeling hot at all but he continued his rock star husband status and took me on a date to see Sherlock Holmes.

Good movie. But again reminded me how weird Guy Richie and his preferred cinematography can be.

I got the sore throat starting Saturday night during the movie. By Sunday morning, I felt pretty much like I'd been run over by a bus. We stayed in all day, in our respective sick beds. Me in the actual cushy, warm, comfy bed and Chris on the couch.

Don't feel too sorry for him. The couch is closest to the Xbox 360. He spent all day shooting stuff.

Yesterday, Chris felt much better. Me on the other hand felt like my throat was on fire. Talking was not a viable option. But missing work was not either.

I took three days off during the holidays. That equals approximately three weeks of work. Honestly, it's a fun magic trick. I just need to find the smoke and mirrors so I can make it stop.

Thankfully, my boss took pity on me. I left thirty minutes early to beat traffic.

Today, I felt much better with the exception of my sand paper throat. So maybe it wasn't a bus that hit me but more like a Kia. Those are pretty tiny little things.

And I went with that theory until I started calling around looking for a day care for Baby E. We could buy a Kia, in a relatively short amount of time, or we could pay for day care.

I think I just heard the bus driver laughing at me as he drove away from the scene of the crime.

Each one was so different. I have a favorite picked out based solely on the phone conversation. They'll let me bring my own organic crib sheet. Yea for toxin free crib bedding. But we'll take the next step and go visit them all too.

We're gonna be awesome parents for the 3 hours a day E is awake with us.

Back to the crud, I am very much looking forward to tomorrow when perhaps the throat will be back to normal. Talking is a vital part of my job. Difficult to answer the phone using sign language. Although for that to work I would have to actually know sign language.

Good news on that too. One of the day care centers will teach infant sign language to E. Totally worth the cost of the Kia.

Glad you are feeling a bit better - hope the Kia drives away soon, too!

  2. Oh girl I died laughing at the "we'll be great parents the 3 hours a day that she's awake!" I totally feel the sarcasm in that statement! And aren't the organic crib sheets the softest things ever!!

  3. You think you can catch a sore throat through the phone lines? I'm not telling the fourth grade thing today. Another time when I can share one of my shining moments of parenthood.
