The bus and the Kia have left the scene of the crime…

I have never had a cold like this one. Honestly, it just keeps lingering. One day its better, the next it’s worse. Good times.

Last Friday, I did something I have never done in my entire career.

Called in sick.

Never done it. Not once in 10 + years of being a working girl.

I have left early before. Five times. I remember them all so if you’d like a complete run-down, let me know.

So Friday I screamed Uncle and stayed in bed. Pregnant means you can’t really take much of anything to help with the cold. It just has to run its course and the best thing you can do is get plenty of fluids and rest. But rest and fluids are difficult when it hurts to swallow because your throat is dry thanks to the whole breathing through your mouth thing.

The worst part was knowing if I felt bad, E might feel bad. On those days when I had tire marks on my face from the bus, she was really quiet. The days when I felt better, she’d pick back up. I called my doctor and my nurse assured me that yes, when you feel bad, the baby can get a little calmer. My stress goes to her.

Up for Mommy of the Year already.

But I am happy to report that I have had two consecutive days of feeling…better. Not great but I’ll take better.

Which is excellent news since I have approximately 2 quadrillion things to do before E’s arrival.
