Another week with one lonely post. So sorry. The boss left for vacation so we’ve been busy little bees getting her ready to leave. Which basically means she throws a whole bunch of work at us to get done at lightening fast speed and then gives us a list of things to be done while she’s gone. I already had a long list of stuff. Now it’s much longer.
On top of that, I’ve been interviewing again. I know, right? It seems like I can’t keep staff around. Part of that is because I hire fabulous people who keep getting promoted. So when I lose a great employee to promotion, my party line I tell the staff and everyone else who asks is how thrilled I am for her and the department. But what I’m really thinking is DANG and sticking my bottom lip out.
Oh yeah. I pout.
But thankfully, after 153 interviews in the past 2 weeks, I have filled both positions. Really, I couldn’t take any more. Why oh why would someone show up for an interview in skin tight white Capri pants and 4 inch spiked black heels? Or wearing enough perfume for Louisiana to smell? Or with half your manicure peeling and chipped and the other half just completely gone?
We need a Stacy and Clinton intervention in this country like never before.
Anyway, I could go on forever about attire. I have quite a soapbox. Actually, it’s less of a box and more of a stage large enough to fill Madison Square Garden.
So this week I am grateful my boss is taking her first real vacation in 2 years. Because everyone deserves some time away. Especially when you work 80 hours a week (and no, that’s not her choice but more of a cultural necessity at our company).
Grateful Chris is taking me shopping for baby stuff tomorrow. We’re hoping to be a little more educated about all the “stuff”. It’s massive, overwhelming and unnerving. How many bells and whistles does a bouncy seat really need anyway?
Grateful we’ve had a full week of beautiful sunshine!
Grateful Mrs. Eartha has responded really well to her stim meds and is growing a lovely garden of follicles.
Grateful we are less than a week away from finding out if little E is a boy or a girl. We’re waiting to tell until we get home for Thanksgiving. We want to tell our families in person. But Chris and I (okay, really, it’s just me) are going a little stir crazy waiting to find out!
And grateful to live in this wonderful country where we can worship our Savior freely. Thank you to all the veterans who helped ensure those freedoms!
This weekend, we’re hopeful OU figures out how to both catch a football and to throw to the people only on our team. Too many teams in the Big 12 wearing red and white. Apparently, it gets a little confusing on the field. It would also be most awesome if they would make a field goal, or 4, when needed.
We’re hopeful our Tigers will come out of the tunnel ready to play football – it’s a toss up every week. Sometimes they want to play and sometimes I think they would rather have gotten a few more hours sleep. If we want to play, Saturday night should be a good game. If not, I’ll be watching episodes of “Platinum Babies” I have DVR’d.
Hope ya’ll have a great weekend!

I can't believe you find out so soon if it's a boy or girl! I can't wait!
ReplyDeleteFYI--Corrie had a fun book that listed things you need for a baby and things that manufacturers just add on for glitz. I'll get the name of it--it's pretty massive, but fun to look through. We're excited to have another Helmbold/Evans baby!
ReplyDeleteYeah! Mom and I were thinking the same thing! It's called Baby Bargains and it is the BEST resource for weeding through all the stuff you need and absolutely don't. It's written by a husband and wife I believe and we have been super satisfied with everything it recommends. It rates everything from clothes to cribs to slings. Go get it. It will change your life :)
