Gratitude Friday...

Hey!  Guess what?  You'll never guess.

Okay, so maybe you will.

We've been sick around here.  Again.

Happy Friday!

Chris got this sinus stuff at the end of last week.  Then passed it on to me.  Rhys is all kinds of snotty and has been carrying a low grade fever on and off.  But really, his could be teething.  It's kinda hard to tell.

I spent the entire afternoon and night in bed on Wednesday.  Chris was awesome and after nap, took the kids to Lowe's (to ride in the race car shopping carts), to PetSmart and then to McDonald's for their playground and dinner.  I went to bed at 1:30 pm and they didn't come home until 6:30 pm.

It was nice.

If I hadn't been sick, it would have been heaven.

Now I'm just playing the waiting game for it to creep on down to my lungs.

Can I just say that I am really, really, really, really, really tired of being sick?

Sigh.

The good news is Aubrey Kate isn't sick.  That girl spent so much of her first year of life being sick, she has built up a rockstar immunity.  There had to be an upside to 12 ear infections in 10 months.

Thankfully, she has also had a better week.  She is still being a pain about wearing her coat.  Chris got to witness it last Sunday.  When we sat down in the worship center, I told him how glad I was he got angry with her.

It's not just me.

But apart from that, she's just been her usual verbose self.

The truest statement she's ever said came Wednesday.  "I have a lot of talking in my mouth today!"

Mostly everyday but YES, you do have a lot of talking in that mouth.

Rhys added "turtle," "blue," and "chee" (for cheese) to his vocabulary this week.  He's only said them once and true to stubborn form, he won't say them again.  About the only thing he will say when asked is "WHOA" because he thinks that's awesomely funny.

And he's not wrong.

As for the rest of the week, Chris has been wildly productive.  He expanded our backyard patio.  Well, with some help from a friend.  But still.  He dug up a whole lot of dirt.  That's serious work.  The backyard's still a mess so once everything gets cleaned up, I'll post a picture of the finished product.  And maybe we'll have to have a Patio Open House.

I, however, was not as productive as I would have liked to have been.  I did get AK's birthday party started.  We have to go to the Parks and Rec office to book a park pavilion.  Like, physically.  In person.  Not so easy to do with little people.  They have not yet learned how to act appropriately in an office environment.  So I went this week and ONLY GOD, there was one spot left for the entire month of April and it was the EXACT spot I wanted.

God loves His Aubrey Kate.

Sent out invitations last night and have already gotten some RSVP's.

The kids spent most of the week outside helping Daddy.  Because he is just that cool.  And if they hadn't been bringing in dirt on their shoes every time they came back inside, I might would have been able to do something else besides sweep and vacuum but no mind.  They had fun and for that I'm grateful.

Chris sees the kids so little.  Or at least if feels that way.  So a whole week of him being home for them to interact and learn from him, is awesome.  A week where the weather was warm in the afternoons, warm enough for sundresses and shorts, that's just an added bonus.

They helped Daddy dig the patio.  Went to the park.  Played with their tricycle.  Colored our entire front yard in sidewalk chalk.  Went to the park again.  All in all, a good week.  In spite of the return of the sickness.

Thank, Father, for family.  For sunny days.  For tax return money to fund home improvement projects.  For friends who give us adorable little dresses.  For open slots at our favorite park for a four year old birthday party.  And for Mucinex and Advil.  We love you, Lord.
