Y'all don't realize this but I can totally feel how much you have been wondering what I've been crafting lately. It's like there's a cosmic connection over crafting.
Right? You feel it too. Admit it.
Well, I haven't been doing too much, honestly. But the number of pictures I'm about to hit you with is gonna make you think I've been doing a lot. When you put almost four months of stuff together, it looks impressive.
Don't hate me because I'm a slacker crafter.
Hate me because I posted all the pictures at once.
So this first one is a house warming "cake" for Chris' co-worker. As evidenced by my obsession with diaper cakes, I'm a fan of "cakes." And as an overly experienced mover, I know the one thing I never can find are the cleaning supplies. Really, I should learn to take the cleaning box with me in the car. Anyway, I figured I might not be the only one. The insides are a roll of toilet paper (because I always forget that too) and a roll of shelf liner. There are 16 towels and two scrub brushes. All supplies purchased at the Dollar Store.
Why I love making these is a mystery but man alive, I seriously do!
Okay, how precious is this? I am a little crazy about scrappy tutus. They are a little less "princess-y" to me. (We don't do the whole princess thing around our house. Yes, we watch the movies with princesses in them, but we don't celebrate them or refer to AK as a "princess.") This was a gift for a precious miracle baby girl due the day after AK's birthday. I can't wait to kiss her little cheeks!
Easter/Spring mantle decorations. Look! It's a scrappy tutu on a mantel! One day, I'll replace the family picture with one that includes Rhys. I promise.
I've seen these banners all over the place as back grounds for photographers. I think there was a sale on Very Jane for something like this a little while back. Since I have a rather large fabric supply, I decided to make one myself. I adore the way it turned out. And apart from the $1.50 I spent restocking the egg supply, the decorating was free.
This is one of Aubrey Kate's Easter outfits. Yes. One. It appears there are four days worthy of Easter dresses. The first being school's Easter party and egg hunt. She picked out her pink dress, which is not new, and I added the felt flowers to the bottom. Good gracious, she is sweet enough to eat with a spoon!
This is Rhys' Easter outfit. I searched high and low for yellow sear sucker pants. Only found one pair and that was on Etsy. I bought AK's Easter dress on Etsy so I'm not at all opposed to buying them homemade. Just opposed to spending $30. For. Real. Instead, I had to go with blue sear sucker shorts. They work.
I made the little bow tie. It matches her dress. I bought extra fabric from the Etsy seller. Totally suspect she believes I am crazy since she asked approximately 24 questions about my request for the fabric. But she sold it to me despite my insane request.
Trying to convince Chris to wear one too. So far, he's not biting.
My latest rosette necklace creation. I actually made this one for myself. Did most of it while I was in bed with Maybe Flu Round 3. I have a hard time being completely still. Got addicted to keeping my hands moving while I was up in the wee hours of the morning waiting to feed Rhys.
It's a bit big. Definitely a "statement bib necklace" but I'm tall. I can handle it. So I keep telling myself anyway. But I do get compliments when I wear it. I heart compliments.
And that's it! I have several others in the works. There's a necklace for Easter to match the kiddos outfits, some embellishments for AK's orange dress for our upcoming trip to Auburn and lots of planning for the first birthday party. Super. Cute. Stuff. Rhys will never appreciate it. Even when he grows up. But maybe his wife will.
Everything is SUPER cute - I'm impressed!! Did you make the 'scrappy' tutu dress? That has to be my favorite:) And don't feel bad about being a 'slack' crafter - there are people out there like me who don't craft at all! So I am always seriously amazed at people who like/can do stuff like this:)
ReplyDeleteOh and I am so with you on the whole 'princess' thing..when we thought we were having a girl the influence of this crazy Disney phenomena had crossed our minds and we felt similarly to you about how we would raise our child. I'd much rather have our daughter focus on who she is in Christ and desire to learn about Him, any day! I think it's really admirable that you've chosen not to focus on princesses for AK.
ReplyDeleteEverything is so cute! I hope to see some Easter pics with those outfits.
ReplyDeleteLove You, Mom
Oh, you are gooooooood. That little tutu outfit is just precious, love the searsucker shorts, and love love love your necklace! Bigger is better!
ReplyDeleteAnd a confession...S has a slight obsession with the new disney girl, Sofia the First. We don't have TV, but she watches it at my mom's house when they DVR it. I have seen an episode though, and I'm impressed with Sofia's "heart" and her constant desire to see the good in those around her. Plus, she didn't grow up a princess, her mom married a king so she's new to the whole thing :) Oh, and she' loves the little mermaid too, but probably because it's the only movie I have here at work for her to watch, lol. But I love your apporach to the whole princess idea!
