Gratitude Friday...

Can we just jump right to the cute baby pictures, please?

Right?!?!

I get to snuggle all that preciousness every. single. day.

Let's just say...GRATEFUL.

Oh Lord, how you love us!

Okay, one more.

You're welcome!

So the Evans' household has been sick.  For pretty much six weeks.  Started with me getting the flu, then Pumpkin's snottiness in December that Homeboy caught that Chris and I caught that I got over that Chris re-caught (not really a word) that Pumpkin re-caught (should totally be a word) and then I got the flu again.

I'll give you a minute to read back through that.  And take it, with all it's germiness, in.

(Germiness.  Also not a word.)

Currently, we are going through ridiculous amounts of hand sanitizer, Lysol spray and disinfecting wipes.

Both because of the sickness and because potty training continues.

As a brief update on that, we have moved passed the reward portion of the process.  Now she's just being stubborn.  She'll stand or sit next to the potty and refuse to use it.

Nope.

Mommy don't play that.

Alright, down to business.  This week, a FB friend posted a link to this article about her son going off to college.  Jest of the story is the mom might have a baby book somewhere and pictures over the years but the day to day stuff, that she was missing.

Got me thinking.

I don't have that problem.

In my pocket is this miracle device, a cell phone.

And I use it on a daily, sometime hourly, basis.  Ask the grandparents.  They get daily cute baby pictures.  I'm sure they love them.  But really, I would send them even if it was driving them crazy.  Because they're my kids and they are adorable.
I have videos and pictures of the most mundane stuff.  As evidenced by the spitting video of Rhys.  And believe me, I have a good many spitting videos.

There are videos of singing, eating, bath time, saying prayers, reading, playing, sleeping, swinging, walking, crawling, rolling on the floor and the spitting.

Then there's this here blog.  Y'all have seen those buttons/onesies/tee shirts/signs saying, "My entire life is being blogged."

My kids can relate.

Should we, their family, friends, teachers, bible study leaders, dance instructor, soccer coach, and yes, themselves, ever want to read about the theme for the second birthday party, it's here.

But here's the thing...

I am so crazy grateful.

Grateful for the cell phone, grateful for the blog to share, grateful for the chance to document our lives.

Without all of that, I might be just like the article's author.  Anticipating the moment when her son leaves and just wants a video a normal moment in a normal day from years before.

Instead, I will be the mom sitting in front of a computer, sobbing, over hours upon hours of videos of normal moments in normal days over years and years of these little ones growing.

Like these.  Yep, these are gonna so make me cry one day.  Like the next time I am sick in bed and have to be separated from them for two solid days.

Not that that really happened.

  1. Aww, this post made me tear up. I too agree it's so important to be present and treasure precious moments with our children now. Do I always do that? No. But I think it's absolutely wonderful to keep that focus in mind and your children are SO blessed because of your great love for them. P.S. Rhys gets cuter every day!
