After my SIL was married a little over a year ago, I "liked" her photographer's page on FB so I could see pictures of their wedding.
And probably so I could see pictures of Pumpkin at the wedding.
I can't help it. I love her.
I've stuck with the photographer because, if you know me at all, you know I adore weddings.
And these are some fabulous weddings.
Several weeks ago, the photographer, Allison, started posting about her son and his adoption. It was a four part series that left me crying and possibly shouting, "Noooo!!!!!" at my computer. Through their struggle, the Lord gave them the opportunity to travel to Sadamo Genet, Ethiopia with Compassion International. She now gives a portion of each session she books to Compassion's child survival program. Those dollars help mothers keep their children.
Let yourself imagine having to decide which child you keep and which you have to give away due to poverty.
This coming Sunday, she's hosting an event to raise money for this amazing program. It's a silent auction with a side of fabulous food, sprinkled with amazing music for seasoning and served with awesome shopping as dessert.
I know there are some Birmingham readers out there. Probably more than any other. Because, let's face it, that is HOME. And I do so love Home.
So if you have some time, stop on by the event. You can find it on Facebook to let Allison know you want to participate. I bet, if you can't make it, she would gladly take a donation. I've done my fair share of fund raising and I have yet to see someone turn down cash.
If you go, congratulations! You can bid on a couple of my crafts.
I can feel your excitement.
Not kidding when I say I started and deleted three FB messages to Allison before I was finally able to hit send. Her list of donated items was already impressive. And all kinds of professional. I didn't want to "ghetto" up her event with my SAHM crafts. I sent pictures of a necklace and a couple of onesies as examples of my craftiness. Because she is a kind person, she expressed excitement over my gifts.
The fact that Rhys was wearing said examples of craftiness probably helped. He's nearly impossible to say no to.
I whipped up three safari themed (and gender neutral) onesies and a necklace for the auction.
Honestly, I think these three are the cutest I've ever made. Seriously.
I'd been praying for the Lord to give me opportunities to give my "talents" (aka crafts) back to Him. And so, Judah's Hope Silent Auction. Ask and you shall receive.
If you can't attend or send cash (and I don't really know anyone just sitting on piles of cash these days), please pray. For the event, for Allison and her family, for Compassion's child survival programs, for the women of the world who face these choices every day and for their precious children.
Jesus loves the little children. All the children of the world.
Those Onsies are ADORABLE!! Love them! And that necklace, too!! If I would have known about it sooner I would have loved to donate a few things too...maybe next time?
ReplyDeleteBig decision but a good one for you. There will be time for all those books later. This internet and digital record sure beats those boxes of pictures in envelops underneath our beds:) Love you, Mom
