"We" have had a cold this week.
We being the toddler.
Who promptly gave it to her little brother.
And now me.
Awesome.
Aubrey Kate brought the cold home from school. Chris pointed out that Pumpkin hadn't been sick at all since she stopped going to school in the spring.
Not sure what he was trying to say exactly.
Because there are fewer things more absolute in life than Aubrey Kate IS going to school two days a week.
And yes, that's because Mommy needs it to happen.
Anyway, she's been all kinds of snotty. And it is ridiculously yucky. Just keeping the snot off her face has become a full time job. Let's not even discuss all the surfaces she touches after she rubs the snot all over her face.
So. Gross.
Apart from the snot, I wouldn't really know she's sick. She is acting completely normal. Which for her is constant, incessant talking and whining about how she "can't" do something or telling me "I don't want to (fill in the blank)."
Rhys with a cold is another story. Bless his infant heart.
Monday night was rough. He was so uncomfortable. Feeding and sleeping were both challenging. I stayed up watching him coughing and choking on the mucus in his throat. He actually gagged and ended up throwing up. It was all happening in what felt like slow motion.
The good news is the next time it happened, I was holding him. Then I could actually help.
Needless to say, it was a long night and we were both completely wiped the next day.
AK seems to be on the mend but Rhys is not yet. He's been sneezing mucus mixed with a little blood. We are using the humidifier at night but the air must be too dry the rest of the day.
Breaks. My. Heart.
Although, at least now, the snot coming out of his nose doesn't scare him anymore.
No lie. That part was funny.
So while I've been awake at night holding vigil over two sick little people, I've been occupying my time making fabric rosettes and watching "Numbers" on Netflix. Keeps my hands busy and my mind from wondering into dark places.
Yes, I understand the absurdity of a crime drama keeping me positive.
I've made three necklaces and am almost done with one for me. It'll be large and I need to sew some pearls into the rosettes. Although I see lots more of these in my future. It's mindless and addictive. Let me know if you need something girly-up-ed with some of your very own!
All that to say...I'm behind on posting this week. Check out the posts below that should have been up earlier in the week.
Not promising they're entertaining but they are snot-free.
You're welcome.
So sorry for the "uck" at your house!
ReplyDeleteThe necklaces are so cute! The orange one is perfect for "AU game days"(important to look good even if there's not much to cheer about)!
