First week by myself with the two kids.
We survived.
That, I feel, must top the list.
We didn't come out unscathed, however. Aubrey Kate is pushing me at every turn. She spent a good deal of time on the Naughty Dog and unfortunately, there were spankings as well.
I have zero tolerance for a blatant lie.
And yes, she knows what a lie is.
So this week, I am going to throw out a list of things that helped us, all three of us, survive with as few fits and tears as I believe could have been expected. These are honest, real mommy necessities. At least for this mommy.
1. Green Giant frozen and microwavable Macaroni, Cheese and Broccoli
2. Any and all programing on PBS Kids Spout channel
3. Chores such as washing bottles, making the bed, dusting...AK loves to help
4. Honeycrisp Apples and Crunchy Peanut Butter...aka my lunch every day
5. Paints and paper
6. Caffeine in it's most heavenly form...Diet Dr Pepper Cherry (True confession: I drank an entire 2 liter in one day. I'm tired.)
7. Craft projects for others
8. Level 2 bottle nipples...Homeboy is hungry
9. Healed and cold-free little bodies
10. Pinterest...I (or rather Tabitha) found and I ordered an early birthday present for myself
Whew.
We're also making a new addition to Gratitude Friday's. In an effort to be intentional about teaching my children to have a heart of gratefulness, I've started asking Aubrey Kate what she is thankful for each day. We talk about it at nap time because, well, I'm not as anxious to put her down quickly.
Sorry, but bedtime is absolute chaos.
So today, Aubrey Kate is most grateful for her back pack.
I can't make that up. How precious!
If you think about us this weekend, say a prayer for Chris as he has an away game 45 minutes from home and their first competition tomorrow morning. Which he has to be up at school for around 4 am.
Yes, you read that correctly.
FOUR AM
Kids too.
That's a level of commitment I didn't even realize existed at 16 years old.
Have a great weekend, y'all!
I am late on my commenting:( but I hope your hubby had a great, successful game! Kudos to him for being up at that crazy hour, too - dunno if I could handle that well;)
ReplyDeleteLOVE that you're teaching Aubrey Kate about having a grateful heart and intentional thankfulness. Ya know I never really thought about living that way til I stumbled across your dear blog, friend..your 'Grateful Friday's' posts and introduction to 'One Thousand Gifts' have really had an impact on my life. I consider it a priority now too. Thank you for spreading your joy of the Lord, Robin - it's contagious!
Oh and P.S. YAY for surviving with two kiddos - that's HUGE!
