Hey ya'll!
No lie, there is a month's worth of posts in my head. I think about writing all the time.
And then I start reading "Heaven is For Real" and suddenly there's no time to write or do any other of the zillion things that need to get done because hello, there's a four year old little boy who went to heaven and sat in Jesus' lap.
I cannot put it down.
Can I tell you how excited I was to read that we are all in our 20's in heaven? If I could put in a request it would be for 28 year old me to be the body of choice for eternity. Just throwing that out there.
Other than that, we have discovered that disco is hilarious. Did some white man's over-bite and the iconic pointing today while we listened to 70"s music. Pumpkin giggled up a storm.
In the last approximately nine hours, she has learned how to give a hug. On request. Not kidding. I can say "Can I have a hug, Aubrey Kate?" and about the fourth time she lays her head on my shoulder.
And then I melt.
We're working on the amount of times I have to ask the question.
We have also discovered that a run in the jog stroller is not nearly as fun as walking all around it playing with the various parts. The straps alone accounted for a good six minutes of enjoyment this afternoon.
As for my new found wisdom, the best I can offer is that my Sonic Route 44 Diet Cherry Coke Zero tastes way more cherry-fully when not purchased during the hours of 2 - 4 pm. They are totally skimping on the cherriness then. I mean, I get it. Cheaper drinks means less cherry flavor, no actual cherry, more ice and less soda. But it's still wrong on so many levels.
I hope to be done with my new office soon. Currently is it a gigantic scrap-tastic mess. I'm cleaning out my scrapbook stuff and it is everywhere. Every. Where. Once that's done, I'll take pictures and post. I know Mrs. JT's mom is dying to see my new Stitch Witchery creations. She may be the only one but I'll post anyway.
Alright, so on to the gratitude list for this week. Believe me when I say I could list so very many things. My trip home. Mrs. JT. Bradley Cooper (yum!). And how awesome it is that Tabitha's due date is the same day as William and Kate's wedding so the Today show gives me a countdown each day. 35 days. 35 days! 35 DAYS!!!
Girl, I am so stinkin' excited I feel the need to dedicate some disco dancing to you and that miracle baby.
You're welcome!
But aside from all that fabulousness, there has been some serious stuff going on. In case you missed it, there was an earthquake, tsunami and now what looks like a very likely nuclear catastrophe in Japan.
Do ya'll remember my friend's baby shower I did forever ago?
Well, Yu and her husband Michael left shortly after the shower to begin their new life as missionaries in Japan.
Sendai to be exact.
Yeah.
Miraculously, both them and their adorable nine week old little man, Luke, are okay. Yu's grandparents and aunts were on the coast when the tsunami hit but, again, miraculously they were okay. Their house was on a hill.
Ya'll.
This is such a sweet couple and my heart breaks for what they have been through. But I am grateful they were there. Grateful they and their congregation had the chance to love others in Christ. Grateful to have a connection to this devastation to pray specifically for the needs they know of personally. Grateful to be able to send support to those directly in need.
You can read about the work they and our brothers and sisters in Christ are doing in Japan on their blog here.
Due to the nuclear threat, they had to make the very difficult decision to leave. Can you imagine? God was faithful and opened doors to get them out safely. So much work to be done but I know God hears our prayers and answers them.
Sounds ridiculously simple to say and almost a cliche. But ya'll, if I have learned anything about my Lord in the past four years it's that when His children come to His throne humbly asking for the chance to show His love to others and to bring glory, praise and honor to Him, He answers.
That's what Yu and Michael want more than anything. To love God's people and give Him the glory for giving them the opportunity.
Check out their blog and leave them a comment of encouragement. And say a prayer for the people they will meet.
Then turn on some disco music and dance with your loved ones. Celebrate today and the chance God has given us to love each other one more day!
