Yesterday, my mother ran her first half marathon.
Until three years ago, she’d never run further than 2 feet in her adult life. Never entered a race. Never bought running shoes for anything other than how cute they looked with jeans. Never eaten a protein bar or bothered to keep track of her water intake.
Meaning she didn’t attempt any of this until she was past her 50th birthday.
I’ll let you absorb that for just a minute.
Psalm 139 keeps running like a broken record in my mind.
He did create our inmost being, knit us together in our mother’s wombs and I know we are all fearfully and wonderfully made in a way I had never appreciated before.
Mom has always been beautiful. Always been the woman my father was so proud to have on his arm. And now, as she holds that medal, she is more beautiful than ever before. That body the Lord gave her carried her through 13.1 miles. Something she would have never thought possible just a few years back.
Fearfully and wonderfully made. Knit together by God’s own hands. With body’s able to run and carry children and hug each other.
What goal do you think is impossible? What mountain seems impossible to climb?
Cause I know this amazing woman who can teach you a thing or two about what’s really possible.
And I know a God who knew your frame even before you came to be. A frame that is stronger than you even realize.

Oh, wow. How amazing is that?!? I've never even met your mother and I'm so proud of her, so inspired by her strength! I too am horrible at "running" and am always complaining about how I can't do it, but your mother just blew every excuse I've ever had out of the water!
ReplyDeleteWow! Go Momma!
