Nine years down…

Today is our 9th Wedding Anniversary. Nine years. Wow. And yet, really?

We were talking the other night about how much life we’ve lived in those nine years. Three states. Three apartments. Three houses. Maybe that’s why it actually feels like nine years and not a blink of an eye.

At the party Friday night, one of my staff commented on how we just looked like the perfect couple. We were in synch in the way we walked and talked to each other. She said we made it look easy.

It hasn’t always been that way. We both believe marriage takes hard work and a great deal of protection. We didn’t walk down the aisle and then live happily ever after. We’ve had some challenges and lots of compromises along the way. Going through all of that, learning about one another constantly and working together is what makes us look like we’re made for each other.

And I wouldn’t want it any other way. Because do you really appreciate the things that come easily in life or is it the ones you work hardest for that offer the most rewards?

I’m posting the same video from last year. I know. I’m a slacker. But really, I just love this video. Watching us change and grow is a joy. My plan was to add all the photos from this year. Until I realized we’d taken about 4 pictures of us. Without a doubt, 2009 has been a roller coaster ride of a year. From our IVF failure, to our lifestyle overall, to our miracle pregnancy – it’s all been a blessing to watch our Lord at work.

At the end of the video, I added one of my favorite verses. I keep it on my vanity in the bathroom and read it every morning. In a million years, I could have never imagined how the Lord would work in our lives as a couple and a family not only this year but over the whole nine. I just cannot wait to see what the Lord has planned for us next!

I love you babe!

  2. I can't believe it either! I'm not quite as tired today as I was that night, but close. Tomorrow is the last day of students before the holidays.
It's funny, last night we had dinner with Jim & Martha just like nine years ago! We were with Tim & Barbara too. We all saw Mannheim Steamroller! We're so blessed our children married to wonderful families.
We love you both!! I think there is video of you and E dancing and you're not telling or you destroyed the evidence! I'm right aren't I?
