So obviously, E takes after Mommy…

Last night as I was watching TV, Chris was playing Beatles Rock Band. And he plays it loudly. As it is right and proper for all Beatles music to be enjoyed loudly. He plays it through the stereo system and I feel confident E can feel the vibrations.

I have zero complaints because honestly, Beatles music makes me happy. It’s hard not to do a little dancin’ around especially watching Paul swinging his head and John be-bopping up and down.

And no, we are not playing it loud enough for the entire neighborhood to hear. Bo Duke we are not.

Speaking of, I totally forgot to tell ya’ll that Bo Duke had a stripper pole installed in that house. Seriously. And no Fanny, it’s not still there.

Anyway, the music had been going on for 3 or 4 songs when E apparently decided it was time to join in the dancing fun. E kicked and I about jumped out of my skin. It was at once the coolest and the freakiest thing I have ever felt.

So I put my hand on my belly and sure enough here comes another high kick. And this time I could feel it on the outside too.

I yelled to Chris to come. He comes sprinting in, guitar in hand, crazed concerned look on his face and I said “E is kickin’!”

We sat there with his hand on my belly for just a few seconds before another kick came. The man just about could not control his laughter. Not because feeling E kick was cool but because I was jumping around! Every time E kicked, I jumped.

I only felt 4 or 5 really good ones and Chris never could feel it from the outside. But it was stinkin’ awesome.

The doctor said this morning that all his patients think it’s really fun when it first starts happening but slowly they get tired of it and just want some peace.

I’ve had years of peace. Years. I’m not interested in that anymore. I just want to feel E kickin’!

So if you are ever at our house, just know that we will be playing Beatles music. It will be loud. And both E and I will be doing our happy dances.

  1. I NEVER got tired of it! Just wait until he or she (do you know now!
??) gets the hiccups! That is so cool but then I started worrying about him (of course)! Have a great Thanskgiving at home!! Can't wait to hear if little E is a he or a she!

  2. I never got tired of feeling those kicks. Every now and then I'd have to convince an elbow to move a little, but always loved feeling the movements. I know you're having your 'big' ultrasound this week, so you probably know by now..but it was my experience that Bryton kicked about 10 times more than Vivi...I've heard that boys move around a lot more. Have a good week!

  3. Even though it's been 30 years since I last experienced that I can still remember how awesome it was to feel those kicks. Isn't it great that God chose to let us experience that. He could have chosen a million other ways for babies to develop but He allows us to experience so much more of the process than men do. Can't wait to hear whether I need to start shopping for boy or girl things. See you soon. Love Martha
