Well, heeellllooo, Morning Sickness, we’ve been waiting for you…

If I were to rate this past holiday weekend on a scale of 1 to 10, I would give it a 2. And those two points are for my Auburn Tigers who managed to win and did so rather nicely this weekend. It was the only bright spot.

Let’s recap, shall we?

1. Alabama won
2. Georgia lost
3. Oklahoma lost
4. Chris is sick
5. Morning sickness arrived

Friday was not bad. We were released early from work (they often do that before a holiday weekend) so I was able to rest a little at home before I started cleaning the house. I knew if I didn’t clean soon the house would rise up and revolt against me.

Saturday I woke up rather early, finished cleaning the house and then we set off to meet the OU band before the game. That was nice. Three of the five grad students from 2003 were there. One of them is teaching at UTA this semester, one is back in school at OU and then there’s Chris. Shame I didn’t get a picture. Next time though.

Then we headed to the game. The new Cowboys stadium is pretty unbelievable. We had great seats and were on the press box side so we could see pre-game and half-time really well.

I only have one complaint: the gigantic HDTV. It’s a little too HD for me. I really don’t need to see the coaches’ razor burn or the zits on the players’ faces.

Seriously, I’m good.

The concession stand in our section served pretty much everything with BBQ sauce. The entire concourse level smelled like it. Chris bought a hamburger and they even covered that in sauce. About 30 seconds after he brought it to his seat, I got nauseous. I then spent the next quarter attempting to not throw up.

Then Sam got hurt and I was nauseous for a whole new reason.

The night ended with an OU loss (and don’t let anyone tell you it was because Sam got hurt - trust me, we had plenty of chances and could do nothing with ‘em).

There was a bad omen before the game even started when the team was supposed to run out of the tunnel but never did leaving the cheerleaders, roughnecks and the schooner running alone to the other end of the field. They looked back going, hey what the heck just happened. The team showed up a minute later. Disorganization coming out of the locker room is not a good sign.

Sunday I woke up and had to rest in the middle of eating my cereal. I was nauseous and weak. So I had to eat but the eating was making me sick. Fabulous. I crawled back in bed and slept for another three hours. I’m sure the Lord understood.

By Sunday afternoon when I had to leave Cracker Barrel because geez does that place smell awful, I was afraid the “morning sickness” was here to stay.

And stay it did. All the way through Monday, when I very literally did nothing. I was fighting the nausea all day but Chris also felt horrible. It’s his annual marching season cold.

Today, I set my alarm bound and determined to get my 30 minutes of exercise in but I ended up lying back down on the couch to prevent my cereal from coming back up.

I feel 112% certain there are a million suggestions on how to fight this nausea thing. My hope is that it will end promptly at 12 weeks which is only 3 weeks away.

Or that an OU victory and an Alabama loss might be the cure. And honestly, I’d much prefer that.

  2. Ugh! What a rough weekend!! I actually stayed up until midnight last night (waaaay past my bedtime) to watch the Canes beat the Noles. Mega smack talk around these parts about that game!

I'm glad you have a reason to feel sick, but I do hope it runs its course and you feel better soon!!!

  3. I am sure I tried all one million suggestions. If you want some let me know. Otherwise take stock in that it is a good sign the baby is strong and healthy! Hang in there! Surely its just 12 weeks worth!

  4. Yeah for morning sickness! It will pass . . . eventually. Try sucking on hard candy. The more sour the better. They actually have some natural candies called Preggie Pops and Preggie Drops that work well. Try ginger ale and anything to drink really really cold with lots of ice. It only works for a little while but if you keep drinking it helps. War Eagle!
