Today was my baseline ultrasound and blood work for IVF version 2.5.
Except we didn’t do the blood work because they are moving to their fancy-smancy new offices on Friday so things are a little chaotic. Surprisingly, I was okay with that. One less needle.
But I did still have my date with the wand.
Alright, so the back-story here is that when we did my first ultrasound waaayyyy back in September 2008, my antral follicle count was FIVE.
Yep. 5.
"4-7 - Low count, we are concerned about a possible/probable poor response to the stimulation drugs. Likely to need high doses of FSH product to stimulate ovaries adequately. Higher than average rate of IVF cycle cancellation. Lower than average pregnancy rates for those cases that make it to egg retrieval. The reduction in success rates is more pronounced beyond age 35."
Okay, so now you’ve read that and you see why Lulu and Rita are not outstanding performers. That thing has kept me motivated on my “cleaning house” path these last 2 ½ months. Remember, we had no proof anything I’ve been doing would make a difference in my counts or in anything else for that matter.
Until today.
My counts doubled. That’s right! Lulu and Rita have TEN chocolate chips sitting there. 5 on each of them. That’s outstanding work for Lazy Lulu!
"8-10 - Reduced count. Higher than average rate of IVF cycle cancellation. Slightly reduced chances for pregnancy success as a group."
That puts me just below normal range. Which I will take every day of the week!
It’s in no way a promise of anything but this is a huge answer to prayer! The IVF nurse kept counting and counting and I just about lost it when she said 10. I covered my mouth and said Oh, God is so good.
And He is. Thank you Dear Lord!
