Baby, I’m a want cha….

Saturday morning we headed to OKC for golf, eating, games and a baby shower. Mrs. Preacher Man is expecting her first. A little guy. Words can’t express how irresistible he will be – with the Mr.’s charm and the Mrs.’ ability to ask you questions that make you go, whoa, I didn’t know I felt that way. It’s a gift.

First things first. I met Linda for lunch. We went to a local restaurant that serves local and organic items. A pizza joint, at that. It was delightful. Both because I was with Linda and because we sat outside on the patio eating a meal I did not cook. Heavenly. The only problem is I miss Linda so much when we come back here. It makes work on Monday much more difficult. You’d think after almost two years, I’d be over that but I just flat out miss being with her. And we spent a lot of time together at work. A lot.

Shout out to Mrs. Skinny and the awesome new paint in the living room. I LOVE the stripes. You rock.

After a way too short lunch, I headed down to grab Fanny for the baby shower. Fanny did really well while I was driving. Well, at least she hid it well. Honestly, girl, next time just tell me to move out from behind the darn trailer. I can handle it.

The invitation said it was “come and go” so we aimed to get there towards the end of things hoping for more time to spend with just her. Bad plan. Let me say if that many people had been coming and going all day, her little guy will want for nothing until 9th grade.

I gave him organic disposable diapers, organic onesies and organic baby wash. Of course. Fanny hand knit him a baby blanket and pillow with his name in the center.

Show off.

Fanny checked on me a couple of times during the shower to make sure I was dealing okay. There were babies and pregnant bellies every where. Really, I was fine (a little uncomfortable maybe) until the newborn showed up. We left promptly. But I made it outside before I lost it. Fanny just handed me tissues and reminded me I didn’t have to hide anything from her.

That alone made the tears stop.

That night Mrs. Preacher Man came over to the Packs for dinner. We grilled and talked and laughed. There was dancing as well but no video this time. We played a game I found at Stein Mart (who knew!). It was a get to know your girlfriends game. Questions like who was your high school nemesis and if you could be a fly on the wall, who would you listen to. The guys played along too because hey, who can resist those kind of earth-shattering insightful questions.

And so just like being with Linda, as soon as we got back here, I missed them both like crazy. All three ladies get me. I get them. They love me. I love them. I am so blessed to have them all in my life. No matter how far away we all live. And Linda, we need pictures! Next time, my friend!

  3. I am loving the pictures! I need copies! Also you left your game at my house so I guess that means you just have to come on back here and get it. And you might just need to stay a day or two.
