One night at dinner, my little brother, who was maybe 8 or so, was watching the rain on our back deck. Watching is kind of a soft way of saying it. He was studying the rain. Thoroughly engrossed in it. I was likely thinking about how weird he was (in all my wisdom at age 12). Eventually, he looks over at dad and says, “it looks like little crowns.” “What does?” “The way the raindrops bounce.” We all looked at each other with perplexed faces but dad smiled the biggest grin and said “huh, you’re right. What a neat way of looking at those.”
That’s Adam. He sees the world differently than I do. He looks around and thinks, I don’t have to follow along. I can do my own thing and reach the same point. It’s a challenge to overcome. To create something new. And so he does. I'm blessed to just be able to follow along with his life and maybe learn a thing or ten along the way.
I hope you have a wonderful day today and know we’re celebrating with you from way out here in Alaska. I love you.

Thank Robin. Funny you remembered the Alaska reference. I wasn't the only one who saw water drops splashing as crown-like. Some graphics design person hired by Budweiser is likely basking in his higher salary because of the design linked below. When I first saw that commercial a few years ago, I felt ripped off. :)
