Google AI Finale (but you have to spell it out) and you get 5,470,000 hits.
Yeah, I’m throwin’ my thoughts on the fire of controversy.
Ya’ll know I’m not a big fan of the Screecher and well, I’m still not. I like his “Mad World” rendition but he was looking way to Dracula for me. Not my thing. The second song was much better but honestly, I can’t hear a darn thing when his tongue is hanging out of his mouth. Okay, maybe I’m the only one who noticed that.
The Cutie on the other hand was fabulous. As always. Regardless, I’m all about a guy with an acoustic guitar and the fact that he can give me goose bumps with a piano too is just a bonus. “Ain’t No Sunshine” was amazing as was “What’s Going On?” Personally, I loved the fact that it felt like a couple of guys hanging out playing some music. Can someone explain to me what’s the problem with that scenario?
The original song? Yeah, well, it was…um…I mean…you see…
Okay. It was awful.
The song is boring and neither of them did a great job. I would have preferred to hear what the guys would have done to the song had they been allowed to actually change it around to fit their style. Apparently, that is off limits. So instead we were all subjected to something bad enough it forced me to distract myself by cleaning the kitchen.
Okay, so forced is a strong word. I needed to do it. The soda cans were piling up and I just couldn’t take it anymore.
Only one final thought. What’s up with AI’s attempt to completely ignore Cutie’s wife? I mean, she’s there every week looking adorable and all doe-eyed in love with the guy and yet, neither he nor the show ever mentions her. Daughtry was all about his woman. I’m sure we all remember him gushing about how awesome she was. Soul mate and all that. And then Cutie comes along and poof, the love is gone. Personally, I would have liked him MORE if he’d told us about his wife. Ladies, we love a good romance and there is really nothing like newly weds.
I hope everyone has a great time watching the TWO HOUR results show tonight. Seriously. There will be a lot of laundry getting done during that ridiculousness.

I think they don't show his wife because they are already trying to make him this heartthrob kind of guy. And I love him. Did you see his pecs? He's a little short for me, but who isn't? I cannot tolerate the tongue hanging out. I also hate the emotionally tortured singing-my-final-lament-from-the-top-of-my-funeral-pyre look he has ALL the time. Where is the artistry?! It's on stage with Kris and his piano, that's where.
ReplyDeleteI can not tell you how bad I needed someone to post right now. Seriously, I've had it up all day on the computer here at work, waiting...hoping someone would post something. Because what am I doing all day at work today? Sitting here...waiting for the phone to ring...with nothing else to do. So, thanks! I was in desperate need of a good read. And I would agree on the lack of a need for two-hours worth of finale. Really, I didn't even see one episode of Dancing With the Stars, but I wanted to see who won, so I turned on the finale. It served as background noise for what seemed like approximately 4.5 hours. Crazy. Anyway, I haven't watched too much of AI this season either, but I know enough to say this: I am not a fan of Adam...or his eyeliner.
ReplyDeleteI absolutely love Cutie! I just really hope he wins! America needs just a good ole' hometown boy with morals and a Christian life. I am hoping we get that instead of the other!
ReplyDeleteI'm pulling for Kris, too. But, they'll both be successful so it doesn't matter. In fact, Adam might be better served by not winning.
ReplyDeleteI have no problem if Adam wins. He's talented, and he seems like a good guy. He's never had a bad attitude or snide comment on the show. In Hollywood week, I never thought he'd make it this far because he was just to flamboyant, but his constant originality kept him on top.
About Kris' wife, though, they show her after every performance. It's not like they ignore her. And his ring was prominently displayed during the final song when he was grabbing the mic. But, they clearly aren't making her a huge part of his identity. I can't even remember if she was on screen during his hometown visit.
The goal, here, is to find a person who can make money for the investors of the show, and they establish, not so subtley, a brand for the person. Kris' brand, like another said, is a singer girls can plaster on the locker doors and computer screens. His wife won't be in those pictures, and so she's just not that important to his stage persona. She's important to him offstage, for sure. People get married and have successful careers. It's not that odd. I don't see the gain Kris or AI would get from throwing his marriage vows in our face every show.
Then again, this criticism seems to be consistent among a lot of married women I know, so I could be completely wrong.
Adam...yes...you are completely wrong. Never argue with a married woman. :-) Stop being rational about all this.
ReplyDeleteI ♥Heart♥ Kris. Sigh*
ReplyDeleteBut coming from the wife of a performer, when the husband is on stage and thanks people, you want to be at the top of that list. They show EVERYONE'S family and she just happens to be in the mix. And I get the branding thing. I just happen to disagree with it. Young girls (and most women I know) have gone crazy for a vampire who falls helplessly in love with an ordinary girl. Girls, women, ladies, chicks - we all love a good romance.
ReplyDeleteI have no idea what you all are talking about! Rick and Bubba give the morning recaps after the previous night show, that's my knowledge, lame I know. The boys don't talk about this wife, never mentioned her. I am on my 4th reading of Edward and Bella. I do know women love a good love story. Mom
ReplyDeleteI have to admit I haven't watched a single episode this season. I feel like a loser. :)
