Woman, thou hast it all…

Well, it’s now less than two weeks from Mother’s Day so I can no longer put off trying to come up with fabulous gifts.

Because delaying it longer will no more create an outstanding idea now than it has for the past two weeks.

I have looked under every preverbal rock, dug to the bottom of the well and flown high above where good ideas float among the clouds. And nothing.

Not one single good idea. Seriously, these women are hard to buy for. They have everything they need and everything they want. And what they want that they don’t have, I can’t afford. Like new kitchen counter tops or a repaired air conditioner. Those are over my budget.

What happened to the good old days when you made a necklace out of pasta during Sunday School for a gift? I could so do that. Of course, we brought her breakfast in bed before church too. But somehow I don’t think our dads are going to bring the moms breakfast in bed and give us the credit.

If I’m wrong about that, speak up. I’d be down with getting credit for a meal I never prepared. Just make sure it’s something complicated like a quiche. Oh, and made with all organic ingredients.

So I’m sending this question out to you guys. Keep in mind my mothers read this blog. Any ideas out there for wonderful mother’s day presents cheaper than granite and a new air conditioning coil?

Here’s some info on the mothers so you can make the most informed suggestions possible:

My mother loves to exercise. Running and spinning are her favs. I’ve considered some fancy gym wear but my fancy and Mountain Brook YMCA fancy are likely two very different things.

My MIL loves to read. However, she’s been collecting “Reader’s Digest” since the 70’s and swears she’ll get caught up one day. I think she’s reading about Reagan’s inaugural ball currently.

You see my dilemma.

  1. OK as one of the mothers here's a few ideas. I'm good with a card and message. Your cards always make me cry. I'm also good with you letting me know when I can come again for a visit. School is out in four weeks!! Your gym sent me membership information today, I'm good with visitor privileges when I come.
Here's the kicker, I'm now having to run in my swimsuit, it feels like, because warmer weather is here in AL. A tank top would be great, not cotton. I wish I could see you right now. Best gift I could give myself!! Love You!!
