So my cleaning rampage continued this weekend. Although with 3 days to spend entirely devoted to the house (and football), we were able to work in a few redecorating projects as well.
After watching Game Day Saturday morning (and seriously, Kirk, the tie? Bad choice), I went to Hobby Lobby and TJMax. I have been on the hunt for a clock for our living room for months. I finally found one at TJMax that I liked okay. It was cheap too so even if I find something else months from now, I won’t be out that much. I went to Hobby Lobby to purchase more word art for the walls. I saw them a couple of weeks ago but decided to give which one I wanted to buy some serious thought. I didn’t know exactly where I would put it since I already have “Family”, “Blessed”, our initials and one of my favorite verses up but thought I would figure that out later. And then I saw my verse in the word art and bought that instead. Now, my handwriting is not awful but it’s certainly not professional. It took me about 30 minutes to get this up on the wall and I think we can all agree the redecorating was worth it.

The rest of Saturday was spent at Wal-mart, watching football and scrapbooking. I am so close to finishing our 2007-2008 First Year in Texas scrapbook I can taste it. But I ran out of ideas when it came to the last pages. The house remodel. I plan to go to Michael’s sometime this week to hopefully get inspired. But Saturday night I did manage to finish two events so I feel pretty good about that.
Sunday was all about painting. On my list of things to accomplish this weekend was finally getting our bathroom vanity painted. I did that and then I couldn’t stop myself. When we had the house painted, we opted not to have the trim painted. That was some serious coin and I figured I would get to it some day. Well, some day was Sunday. In addition to the bathroom, I painted almost all the trim in the entry way, kitchen and living room. I say almost because I managed not to go totally insane by painting trim that didn’t need painting.
In between the painting, I steam cleaned our bathtub and Chris CLR’d the shower. I stayed out of the bathroom while he did that and instead did some dusting. Sunday night found the house in complete disarray leaving me all day Monday to put things back together again.
A couple of weekends ago, we came to the realization that a scrapbook room was a complete lie. If Chris is home, I want to be in the living room with him leaving the scrapbook room very lonely. We decided it was time to move the elliptical in there and the desk into the Auburn guest room. Chris did all the heavy lifting so all I had to do was adjust the decorating. I bought a navy bedspread because the white on white on white was just too white. So here are the finished rooms:

Auburn guest room before
Auburn guest room now
Old scrapbook room
New gym
Old, didn’t work, cheap builders faucet
New, fancy, hasn’t sprayed me yet faucet
All in all a productive holiday weekend. I didn’t get the curtains ironed or finish the scrapbook but I have plans to do both of those this week. The house looks good. It’s clean and ready to for visitors! Ya’ll come on over!!!
Robin - I love the "word art" - it looks AUsome! Hope you are doing good today!
ReplyDeleteI meant the scripture verse - it looks really good.
ReplyDeleteI feel a little more upbeat about it all but I did throw up the last sip of the "tea" this morning. This stuff really gives tea a bad name!
I'm just walking on God's path that I think he's set before us and I'm praying that if this isn't it then please quickly let us know!
I went to an infertility support group meeting last Thursday and it was great - one of the things that one of the ladies leading it said was that God may be answering your request with "How committed to me are you?" I think that this is His plan and he keeps sending me signs showing me that so I will continue the "tea" and I think that shows that I'm pretty darn committed to him. I don't know if I wrote a post about this or not but we went to see our pastor about this and he was a huge believer in "eastern" medicine. How can I still be so negative when the doctor believes in it and my pastor!! He's recently had a traumatic medical event happen to his daughter in law and she lives in CA and he said that this "eastern" medicine was quite the norm in CA and they are usually many steps ahead of the rest of the world when it comes to medical improvements.
I wrote a book! Have a good day.
I just realized what you thought I was talking about - Toomer's Corner!! I love it!!
