Maggie May…

This past weekend marked our year anniversary without Maggie. We got Maggie one month after we got married way back in January of 2001. She was with us almost 7 full years so we’d never known what life was like without having a living creature relying on us for all their basic needs. And let me say, we have become quite accustomed to being completely selfish since we no longer have to rush home to let her out.

Maggie was not a snuggly dog although this picture is deceptive. She was 40 pounds of solid muscle and far more ADD than Chris ever thought about being. She didn't come when I called most of the time, she could catch the frisby in the air, she could leap over the couch from a dead jump off the floor, she loved to be in the bed even though she wasn't allowed, she could snatch a stack of Oreos off the bathroom counter but couldn't find the dropped food in the kitchen, she loved having visitors but often was so hyper they thought she was dangerous and I never felt unsafe with her around. We use a security system now. She was rambunctious, crazy and almost completely unmanageable. But we loved her.

When we moved in the house in February, I actually thought, “Oh, I need to keep the door closed so Maggie doesn’t get out”. Miss you Maggie May.
