HAPPY BIRTHDAY DAD!!!
For your birthday, I could think of nothing to get the man who has everything. So I decided to write something for you. I know, your mind’s reeling at the thought of receiving something I’ve written. I can’t promise it’s good but it will at least be better than a homemade ashtray or OU hammer.
“Ode to Dad”
Hap, hap, Happy Birthday to Dad
From way back when he was just a little lad
Through his days working toward being an Auburn grad
Everyone around him has been awfully glad
To have him in their lives because he’s so rad
He’s got guitar dreams that often need scratchin’
His love for music was sure catchin’
Cause my little bro and I were certainly listenin’
Even though we felt like bad music victims
We’re now proud to have a dad with musical vision
He’s always there to listen to our silly tales
Or give us advice on how to get over ourselves
Because no matter what our life entails
He knows not to get too caught up in the details
But to look towards Christ and His hands scared by nails
There’s no doubt Dad sure is funny
His hugs are sweet as honey
His outlook on life sunny
His belief in the Lord never phony
And we wouldn’t trade you for any amount of money
Okay, so maybe the OU hammer would have been better. But I wrote it with love!!!!!
