And behind door number three …
In our continued effort to ensure that 2008 is, in fact, the Year of the Spending Spree, we have purchased a new car.
Well, new to us.
We spent all day Saturday shopping. I’d done a good bit of research and knew which ones we should test drive. So after 2 dealers, we finally settled on the car.
A 2008 Hyundai Elantra with 2,400 miles.

Really, the engine is pretty quiet, the road noise in minimal and the price was right.
And it has XM satellite radio which is a must now that we’ve purchased all the Sirius satellite equipment just in time for the entire SEC to move their football Saturday broadcasts to XM.
If you need us on a Saturday in the fall, you’ll find us sitting in the car.
In the garage.
Because it’s too expensive to drive around town.
The sad part was turning over the truck. It’s been a good truck. It’s helped us with 6 moves in 4 states. It had close to 180,000 miles on it and had never had the clutch replaced. Trucks are especially handy when you purchase a painting too large for the car or you need to rent a pressure washer for the driveway. But we’re still hoping and praying that we’ll need a family car sooner rather than later and so it just made sense to buy the car instead.
Hopefully, this is our last major purchase of 2008. I’m not making any promises for 2009, however. Mr. and Mrs. Pack have recently expanded their patio which got us salivating over the idea of expanding ours. Next summer.
