Pretty much, a trip home equals weight gain. I'm not complaining. Far from it. I enjoyed every stinkin' minute of my gluttonous and yes, even sloth-like behavior. Both sides of the family fed me and fed me well.
Including a never-ending supply of Peanut M&M's.
And, sweet mercy, the discovery that Klondike Bars are gluten-free.
I did run. Sort of. Two days. By some miracle, there were two full days of very low humidity. The mornings were in the 60's. That low humidity is the only really we were not covered in sweat for our family photos.
If y'all don't believe God cares about the tiniest of details of your life, then you don't understand God. I'd been praying for good weather for the pictures and, well, He provided. As always.
One of those two mornings, Chris went on a run with me. Voluntarily. Even at his suggestion. I was floored. We had a great time. Despite the realization that my JOGGING pace and his WALKING pace are basically the exact same. I said, "You ready? Let's go" and started running. He started running too and then said, "Well, huh." And stopped running to start WALKING. Again.
At which point, I punched him in the arm.
Seemed totally deserved.
Here is one view from said run/walk:
There were several spots along the trail with benches. Each facing the creek. Chris seemed confused. "Why would someone want to sit and just stare?"
I believe my response was to...stare.
At him.
After the run was a stop by a gluten-free bakery for a cinnamon sugar donut and then on for a little antiquing.
Chris said, "Pretty much, my perfect morning."
He's cute.
The next day, Mom took me to another running trail near the house. Lovely. I barely broke a sweat it was so pleasant out!
Needless to say, when I spend a full week eating to the point of uncomfortable every.single.day, I need to burn some calories. Thanks to last month's cold that lasted three, almost four, full weeks, my running kinda suffered. But hey, I'm still holding out hope all that coughing is doing wonders for my abs.
Hope springs eternal.
