On the Road Soon...

So the end of last week and yes, joy, the whole weekend was stolen by what we think was a teething toddler.

Heck.  He could be still teething.  The fever's gone.  The waking up at night crying is gone.

The fussy "hold chew" remains.

He's heavy, y'all.

Let's just say, he's lucky he's so cute.

Other than that, I have had my head buried in my computer planning a girls' road trip for this fall.

Got a couple of options:  Head south through Biloxi or head north through Memphis.  One way we hit Birmingham, the other we hit Montgomery.  Or we could skip it all and head to Savannah.  Of course, that's only after we hit the ultimate destination.

Auburn.

And the Texas A&M football game.

Because I feel a heavy burden to make sure the world is properly introduced to Auburn.

Did you hear the heavenly hosts humming?  Harps being strummed?

They tend to do that when the word "Auburn" is uttered.

Or typed.

So I come to you, dear friends, to ask...you got a favorite spot in the Deep South?  Louisiana?  Mississippi?  Alabama?  Georgia?  Favorite restaurant?  Flea market?

And seriously, hotels in Montgomery?  Everything is booked in Auburn (duh) and what's not is $350 a night.  I get that.  I'm just not paying it.

I should tell you, the Biloxi Blues trip is a.maz.ing.  I'm pretty much ready to take that trip all by myself, if need be.

Just not right away.

I'd feel bad leaving Chris here all alone with the possibly teething toddler.  He doesn't find the "hold chews" nearly as cute as I do.

  1. Let's talk! You can leave from my house to get to the Auburn game day. I wouldn't suggest staying in Montgomery.
Memphis is nice! Beale Street is good music & food, much calmer than New Orleans.
North Al. At the Robert Trent resort in Muscle Shols looks nice. I want to go. There is a historic rock n roll studio/museum there that I want to see. The scenery of the foothills of the Applician mountains in North Al. Is beautiful.
But lot of street music in Memphis. Fun,
    Love you. Mom

  2. If you have to stay in Montgomery it's fine! Stay in Eastchase somewhere. Not as "hip" as downtown but considerably safer. (is hip even still a word that is used in that context?) There are about 5 hotels right at the interstate 40 miles to AU. I want to be invited to a dinner or a lunch or a something if you stay in Montgomery!!
