Wha's up, y'all?!?! Welcome to the first of my twelve installments of monthly updates! Complete with pictures, video and some stats on...well...me.
I like me.
Let's start off with the stats portion. As of yesterday, when Mom dragged me to the doctor yet again, I was up to 8 lbs 10 oz. Yep, that's almost two pounds in two weeks. To quote the doctor, that weight gain is "outstanding."
I would have been happy to gain that right off the bat were it not for the whole starving thing. But let's not dwell and let bygones be bygones.
Although those weeks did have some consequences. For one, I am still crazy hungry. Went through a little feeding frenzy this week. I was eating three oz every three hours. That was not cutting it. So I upped it to four oz every two hours.
Is there an eating competition for newborns?
Doctor says I am likely making up for lost time. Mom says I am wearing everyone out. I couldn't even take a nap in between feedings. About the time I would fall asleep, the rumbling tummy would wake me up.
But when I do have a full tummy, I'm a pretty chill little dude. I don't mind the swing. I don't mind the car seat. I don't mind the play mat. Tummy time. The bath mat. Or even the bath. As long as I'm full, I'm fairly content to do whatever.
I do like to sit up so I can see what's going on. Don't get me wrong, the snuggles in someone's arms are still the best but sitting up is cool too. I'm pretty aware these days and don't like to miss what's happening.
If I am crying (aka when I'm hungry or getting my diaper changed), Mom can calm me down by rubbing my head and whispering in my ear. I really like her voice. Or at least I know it well. I have been listening to her for 10 full months now. She seems to get a kick out of being able to calm me down. I hear her love language is gift giving so Mom, consider that my first gift to you.
Happy Birthday/Merry Christmas/Will you be my Valentine!
Mom also says I am all boy. Largely because I am eating so much but also because I can make a mess pretty quickly. Mom and Nana are washing all five of my sleepers and my three swaddle blankets multiple times a day. I spit up and I poop.
A. Lot.
Cracks me up, really. I just like to keep them on their toes.
After I do one or both of those two things, I smile. No lie. Just a big ole silly grin. That's sort of their cue that I'm done and content. One day I'll smile for some other reason but bodily functions will have to do for now.
Thankfully, I am growing out of those newborn outfits quickly. I have more options in the 0-3 months range.
Things with my sister seem to be going smoothly. She's not all that interested in me for the most part. Nana's here and playing with her is way more fun that watching me look around. She does play with me some on the play mat. Which, let's face, is only serving the purpose of trying to keep me awake. Aubrey Kate seems to relish the challenge of keeping me awake.
Awesome.
Overall, I'm pretty happy with the living situation here. Mom and Nana are cool. Aubrey Kate seems to be okay. Dad's alright, although he works a whole lot. Mom says I'll get more time with him in a few more weeks after band camp is over. Basically, life is good.
See y'all next month!
