Well, it is 1:00 am. So yep, it's Friday.
Rhys is sleeping in the boppy next to me on the couch. He is a snugly baby and really prefers to be held. It's a definite change from Aubrey Kate who slept peacefully in her crib beginning the 2nd night she was home with us.
But this little man, oh, he loves the snuggle.
We did have a little bit of success today when he slept for 51 minutes in the pack n'play. The rest of the day he either sleeps in the swing or in our arms. The boppy is a new experiment tonight.
We love snuggling. Really. And we do that most of the time. But Mommy and Daddy need sleep too.
Although I'm not asleep right now. I took a 90 minute nap before the 11 pm feeding and for me, that's some serious sleep. I'll sleep after the 2:00 am feeding.
Now for the gratitude list/story/rambling.
1. Weigh-in - Rhys gained weight! He dropped a full pound before he finally gained 3 oz. Oddly enough, I wasn't all that worried. Chris took care of worrying enough for the both of us. I knew he was eating. After all, I was there for each feeding.
2. Day at the park - On Wednesday after our daily weigh-in, we all went to the big park in town. Rhys was full and sleeping in his car seat. Aubrey Kate had been such a good girl while waiting for us at the doctor's office. And honestly, I hated for all of us to get all dressed up and have no place to go. Nana and Aubrey Kate played like crazy while Rhys and I sat in the shade on a bench. It was blissful. I loved watching my daughter play while listening to my son sleep. It doesn't get much better than that.
3. 8 Hour Difference - The Olympics start this weekend. In case you missed it. I'm excited about watching the competition! Also excited about the 8 hour time difference because maybe, just maybe, there will be some live events I can watch in the middle of the night instead of reruns of Today and infomercials.
4. Nothing Bundt Cakes G-Free - Yep. Got one as a gift this week. Came at it like you would a strange animal. Slow and calculated. The label warned it was not prepared in the gluten-free kitchen and well, y'all know I firmly believe flour travels through the air. I took one bite and waited 30 minutes to see what happened. Thankfully, nothing! Over the next three days, I've managed to eat every morsel and seriously considered licking the packaging. It was just a mini cake which is good because I might have eaten a full one at the same rate of speed. Heavenly yumminess.
5. Sacrifice - Mom is here. She has been an absolute gift. No way I could do this without her. Chris starts band camp next week and beginning, well, tonight, I am pretty much on my own with night duty. We both realize what a huge sacrifice it is for mom and dad. Its hard to be apart from your spouse much less be apart for the purpose of playing with a toddler and doing laundry. Thank you for your sacrifice. It will never be taken for granted.
Hope y'all have your own gratitude list this week. If I manage to feed Rhys and get to sleep before 4:00 am, I'll add that to this week's list!
This is probably bad. It goes right against the label on the Boppy. We had the newborn lounger, the Boppy without the hole. Both Noah and Miller slept in it in their beds for the first six weeks. Both boys fought the swaddle although they loved it, had to have their hands free. But they would sleep in that Boppy. So we let them. We all got sleep. We were all happy. Even if we broke the rules. There is also the nap nanny. A similar concept. I have had friends use those in the crib as well. When they started wiggling off the Boppy we introduced stomach sleeping. At the suggestion of my ped. So if little Rhys enjoyed sleeping in the Boppy these things might work for you too! Also the eleven pounc mark was huge for Miller who was still nursing and took longer to sleep through the night. Most of my nursing friends say eleven pounds is really when they start to see huge gains in longer stretches of sleep! So hang in there! Sending prayers and love your way!
