Not sure about y'all, but I don't believe my mother did a maternity photo shoot with either me or my brother. No hearts on her belly. No crochet needles and thread. No wistful looks into the future.
In fact, I'm not sure I've ever seen a single picture of my mother pregnant.
I bet she was pretty. She's always been pretty.
So it's entirely possible with the popularity of maternity photos along with first breath photos (which my parents do actually have of me and well, eeewwww...not exactly the same thing we do now days) and newborn photos and watch me grow monthly photos and first birthday photos and first day of preschool photos...
...and on and on and on...
...that Aubrey Kate and Rhys might just flip through old scrapbooks and old blog posts and literally think nothing of it. Everyone has pictures like that. So what if Mom stood in a field with a big floppy hat holding on to a belly full of Rhys?
However, the more likely scenario is one day, they will be teenagers. And everything I have done, will be doing and might someday do will be a source of immense, deep embarrassment.
Which is why I might, not promising, but might just keep framed copies of both Aubrey Kate's and Rhys' maternity shoots hanging proudly on our living room walls.
For forever.
Because really, if you can't give your teenagers something to be embarrassed about, what is the point of being parents?
Apart from someone to do the laundry, cleaning and yard work. Of course.
Much love and thanks to my sweet friend, Chelsea, at Good News Studios. Takes a lot of talent and photo-shopping to make me look this good! It's nice to have friends with skills.
You know I don't think I have a pic of me pregnant with either of you. I do have a pic of my mother pregnant with me, but it was at a family gathering, sitting on the couch with other family members. No professional shoots. Seems strange now to think we didn't get any pictures and I do love all yours and Carrie's. Love you, Mom
