I love Fridays. Really.
Except when Pumpkin wakes up screaming at 4:00 am and then talks with her animals until 6:15 am when she starts screaming again.
And I get to listen to it all.
Those kind of Fridays are not my favorite.
Let's just say I started off the day with very little in the patience department.
Chris got up with her at 4:00 am (largely because he and his skinny self can move way faster than me and my hugeness) but he was able to go back to sleep like a champ. He got up about 9:30 am (he gets home late on Thursday nights because the band staff works all day, has outdoor rehearsals at night and then rehash and plan until midnight or so) and I went to bed.
I woke up at 1:00 pm.
Apparently, I needed more sleep than I realized.
Somehow I don't think I'll hit my 100 oz of water today.
However, we did spend some good time this morning playing before my nap. Aubrey Kate can be a lot of fun at this age. She can also be so frustrating. But this morning, she was sweet and eager to please.
Well, minus the part where she put her hand into the cereal bowl and spread the milk all over the table like it was finger paint. That was not a sweet moment.
In the last week or so she has been all about reading her bible. She'll get it off the shelf and bring it to me saying, "Read the bible, Momma."
Gets me. Every. Time.
I'm always amazed at what she remembers from each story. We've got Noah and Abraham down. She recognizes them when we get to those pages. But what she picks up on the most are the facial expressions of the characters.
For instance, Adam and Eve. The story of their fall in the garden has a picture of them both looking very ashamed. Aubrey Kate says they look "sad."
And, well, in her mind anyone who is sad needs to take a nap. She'll say, "Sad, Momma. Take a nap!"
What she also says is, "We need to obey God, Momma." Since the story talks about how they disobeyed God, she put it together that disobeying God = sad, take a nap.
Not bad logic.
I love that she asks to read her bible. Love how she sings "Jesus Loves Me" along with me. Love that she will say, "Jesus loves me the most" because He does. He loves her more than Chris and I ever could.
And so very grateful God gave us the opportunity to share His love with her.
Even if I'm trying to share that love after a long night of very little sleep and cleaning milk off the kitchen table.
So sweet! "let the little children come to me." They are so simple in their understanding and faith. I love her simple understanding. I do agree AK most things can improve with a nap:) Love Nana
