Do you know where you were 10 years ago today?

Cause I was here.

That's me in white. With the veil.

Only two times in my life do I remember consciously telling myself to hold on to a moment. Live right now. Don't think about anything else. Focus on the person in front of you.

The first was as I was standing at the alter looking at Chris.

Ten years later, I remember more about what I was trying to remember than what was actually happening. If that makes sense. The entire wedding was a complete blur.

And thus we have always joked that for our tenth anniversary, we would run off to Vegas and have Elvis renew our vows. That I figured I would remember.
Thankfully, Fanny and Mr. Pack did that exact same thing several years ago and you know what, I'm good. Gotta love living vicariously through someone else.
I don't really need Elvis to help me create a lasting memory with Chris. I've got plenty already and most are during every day moments. Like listening to him read to our daughter. Or seeing him teasing his students. Or just talking together while we fix dinner. Those are the moments I will always remember.
Thanks for ten years, babe. I love you!

  3. Yes I do remember that day 10 years ago. I was trying my best not to cry because I knew I wouldn't stop. I remember how beautiful you looked and how moving the vows you wrote for Chris. You were cool! We experienced 4 seasons that day. The tension in the brides room while the sirens were going off. Girls upset, "What are we going to do?" I replied, "We're going to stay here and have a wedding!" It sometimes seems like yesterday. I pray you have may more joyful moments to stop and remember. We love you both! Mom

  5. Happy Anniversary!
I remember...changing clothes (in our playroom during a tornado warning) for the beautiful wedding of my first nephew and his lovely bride, Ryan and Stephen timing your first kiss as newlyweds, and leaving the wedding reception in snow flurries.
    May God richly bless you.
    Love you.

  6. Happy Anniversary. I remember that day too. Brother Mike forgetting the key to the organ, Adam and Greg having to back home in the limo. You panicing when Chris was not exactly where you thought he would be and asking what you were going to do if he did not show up. I think my response was get dressed you were going to marry someone today because I was not going through this again. Snow that night after being almost summer that morning and a few stiff breezes as the tornadoes went through. Also one of the groomsman's battery going out on his car and me jumping him off and being late for the reception. Then we had someone attend the reception and eat a bunch of food and no one ever know who he was. All in all a pretty memorable day. But the thing I remember most is my prayer that you and Chris would be as happy through the years as I have been with your Mother. It was all I could do to give you away that day. I kept remembering the words of the song "I Loved Her First." Still do.

Looks like you made a pretty good choice and we got some neat In-Laws and freinds out of the deal.

    Love Dad

  7. I remember spending part of the afternoon of the wedding in our basement room waiting out a tornado warning, putting a safety pin in the back of Mike's shirt collar because it was too big, walking back up the aisle (the wrong way) just before the ceremony after escorting Martha in, being thankful that is was no longer pouring rain outside since I had to go down the outside walkway to get to Chris and Bro. Mike. Also struggling to keep emotions in check during the ceremony - that will probably never change. Happy 10th Anniversary. Jim/aka Buddy
