Take Your Baby to Work Day…

I am somehow betting Hallmark already created this holiday.

Let’s hope it doesn’t catch on. My unhappy baby was one unhappy baby too many.

Chris and AK came up to work to have lunch with me Friday. Let’s face it, I wanted people to fuss over my gorgeous baby. Not gonna lie about that.

They left the house all bright eyed and bushy tailed.

She managed fine on the ride up the elevator and in meeting the first set of her adoring fans.

But that ride down the elevator was a dozy. She screamed the whole way. And for 10 minutes following.

It was yet another moment of Chris and I staring at each other saying What do we do now?

There’ve been lots of those moments. Seriously. You’ve heard people joke about how babies don’t come with instruction manuals. Well, it’s not really a joke. They don’t.

How the heck can we tell what she wants? Was she scared of the elevator dropping so fast? Were her little ears clogged and she didn’t know to swallow? Or is she claustrophobic like Nana?

Whatever it was, listening to Pumpkin scream in the middle of an all marble lobby was not my idea of a good time. Oh the echo.

We also found ourselves saying the most annoying thing parent's of screaming children ever say: "She never cries!"

Yep. We're a cliche.

Although, it was only a slight exaggeration. She does very rarely ever cry. And certainly not like that. She was genuinely scared and then she couldn't calm herself down.

Eventually, she stopped screaming and we could eat some lunch. There was so much cool stuff to look at. Including multiple TV’s in the Grille. Ah, the art of distraction.

Because she wasn’t the happiest she’s ever been, we didn’t take a whole lot of pictures. Meaning we took one.

Don’t you love my “Drama Depart.” sign? My boss gave it to me. Perfect gift.

And how awful do I look? I need…something. To get rid of the glasses for sure. But honestly, I need highlights or lowlights or new makeup or some sort of chemical peel to get rid of my dull looking skin. Something. Blah.

After we snapped that jewel of a photo, Chris and AK headed out. By the time he got to the lobby, Pumpkin looked like this:

Apparently, just hanging out at work is exhausting. That’s the way it makes Momma feel too, baby girl.
