First day back at work.
Done.
Didn't get much sleep the night before. Not because I was sad or scared or worried. But because I was anxious. Anxious to get there and get started.
There's much work to be done. As evidenced by the code language my staff has created.
So I tossed and turned all night. Until my alarm went off at 4:20 am.
Gosh awful early.
Also known as the usual time Pumpkin wakes up.
Strangely, I didn't so much mind.
I went in to get her and found her smiling up at me. Well, good morning to you too!
We ate a little and then played a little but by 4:45 am, she was yawning and ready to go back to bed. I put her down and about 22 seconds later she was out.
I headed back to my side of the house, threw on my gym clothes, grabbed my bag and my lunch and headed out for the day.
By the time I got to work about 7:20 am, I'd run 4 miles and was feeling almost giddy. I was the only one there so I had time to dust off my computer, make the coffee and clean out my boss' out box.
I sat at my desk eating my strawberries and blueberries. I read emails. I checked the calendars. I made my plan for the day.
All day long, I kept waiting to get sad. Or to miss her enough to cry. But that never happened. I was busy. And yes, I missed her terribly but I also knew she was fine.
I'm sure the guilt and sadness will come. Until then, I'm going to work like a crazy woman. Because somehow, I am now a full week behind.
Ah. Back to normal.
Yay for normal!!
ReplyDeleteAwesome! Except for the berries part. I hate berries.
ReplyDeleteGlad to see things are back to "normal" and you are blogging regularly. I miss it when I don't have your blog entry to read. Meme
