Tired.
Wow.
Our days now begin around lunch time and end sometime around midnight.
Yes, I am aware we are not on a good schedule. We are trying. But it's not working very well.
So my gratitude list this week is fairly short but what it lacks in length, it makes up for in magnitude. Because I am extremely grateful for these little helpers.
1. Mylicon Drops - we put some in her bottle and it makes the grunting go away. I don't particularly care for the "I'm in pain" grunt. It's worse than the "I want out of this nasty diaper" grunt and the "I'm hot so get me out of these blankets" grunt combined.
2. New pump - we rented a breast pump from the hospital. Works better and faster. I much prefer spending less time hidden away by myself in the bedroom. And it's much quieter.
3. Really bad pregnancy sleep - excellent prep for sleeping an hour at a time max. Not sure anyone could function going straight from a fabulous, uninterupted 8 hour sleep pattern to an hour to 90 minutes at a time.
4. Growing baby - at her two week check-up, she was up to 6 lbs 9 oz. That was wonderful news. The formula is helping her grow. That's all I care about.
5. Holding my daughter - absolutely none of that matters when I pick up my baby girl. Doesn't matter how exhausted I am or how much she's grunting. And she doesn't care if I've pumped right on schedule or if I'm wearing the same pj's from the day before. When I get to hold her, all is okay with the world. We look at God's sky and we sing "Jesus Loves Me". And that makes all the other "stuff" melt away. What remains is a miracle.
I'll do my best to be better about posting pictures! Maybe not next week or even the next but hopefully, we'll figure out what day and night are and I will be able to function like an adult again. Love to you all!
sounds like you guys are getting the hang of things:) You may want to try gripe water. We found it to work a better then mylecon drops, and you can give it every hour.
ReplyDeleteso glad you are finding joy in small victories :) praying for you and hoping you get some sound sleep soon!
ReplyDeleteI wish I could come see you!! I need to call soon. So much to talk about. Hugs!
ReplyDeleteYour post is so, so sweet:) And so true!! What a good way to view the pregnancy sleep (or lack thereof!) issue. The night before my daughter's due date, I woke up 5 times to use the bathroom and was SO exhausted!! I guess God really does prepare you that way;) Congrats again, and I'm so glad you're soaking up each precious moment!!
ReplyDeleteYou are loved. That little girl of yours is precious. Praying! (((HUGS)))
