Here is what my feet look like pregnant. After eating Mexican for lunch. And wearing pants the belly has outgrown (why does no one tell you yes, the belly will outgrow pants you bought at 14 weeks? That would have been good information to have.)
Lovely aren’t they? Needless to say, I’ve given up Mexican. And popcorn. And anything else I know to be full of excessive amounts of sodium.
Here is what my feet look like pregnant. After two days of the stomach flu. And bed rest.
Strangely, they look completely normal. I just stared at them all night. Couldn’t believe they were back to normal. Part scared because well, I knew that meant I’d lost a lot more fluids than I needed to. And part thrilled because they were so pretty. I’ve always liked my feet. And my ankles and my lower legs (let’s not talk thighs).
Darn stomach thing came out of nowhere Sunday morning at about 4:00 am. It hung around until mid-morning Monday. I haven’t been that sick in a long time. Actually, since Christmas 2001. I ate a Christmas Banana that year instead of turkey and ham and all the fixin’s. Such a sweet memory.
I was really only concerned this time about one thing. Pre-term labor. See, I came into the world thanks to excessive vomiting. My mom AND dad both had food poisoning and all the excitement pushed me right on out. So there’s precedent for my concerns.
Chris was worried about dehydration. I was too but Mom was on the task.
Oh yeah, that’s right. Mom was here for all the fun. Absolutely hated to spend our last day together with her being nursemaid but was very grateful to have her here.
She gave me ice chips every 15 minutes and after about an hour, I was able to keep down some gingerale. From then on, it was much better.
E seemed completely unaware of the entire thing until day 2 when she got a little quiet. Can’t blame the poor girl. I was pretty wiped so I know she had to be feeling that too.
Yesterday, I attempted work. I got about 10 minutes down the road and realized driving was a mistake. I managed to work a half day but I was lovin’ being back in bed and resting by 2 pm.
Today, I feel almost human. Well, I actually feel like I did during the 1st trimester. Weak and completely uninterested in food. But I can handle that. E and I have been down that road before. Now we’re just waiting to see how long it takes for the swelling to return to my feet. My money’s on sometime after 3:00 pm today.
Even swollen, you have adorable feet! lol! =)
ReplyDeleteI am so sorry about the stomach flu! And grateful Sandra was there to take care of you! I know exactly how you feel about the feet! The last several months with Noah my feet were so big from being on them all day teaching I could only fit into flip flops! And then when they were really bad when it was obvious something was going on... you could barely tell I had toes :) Hope you get to feeling better soon! Love to you and E!
ReplyDeleteSo sorry you caught that nasty bug. Glad you are feeling better. So glad that Sandra was there to keep an eye on her baby girl. Take care of yourself and baby E. Love you, Martha
ReplyDeleteGlad you're feeling better! What a sweet Momma you have coming to take care of you!
