Dun...dun...duuunnnn.
If you’re joyfully looking forward to wearing a swimsuit in public, then you are either 18 or a supermodel. In college, the pretty girls would wear their swimsuits under their tank tops and daisy duke shorts so they could lay out in between classes.
This was the first time I realized their was an “us” and a “them”. I was too cold to wear anything but jeans and a sweatshirt to class. And too pale to dare risk blinding hundreds of people at a time on the Concourse.
Thankfully, Chris loves me for my mind. Or maybe I blinded him with my paleness so things are kind of fuzzy when he looks at me. Truthfully, I’m okay with either one.
So anyway, we are a little over two weeks from what I describe as my own personal hell:
A water park.
Seriously. I cannot even tell you how much I loathe walking around in a wet swimsuit all day just so I can ride in a big yellow tube down a curvy slide. But somehow I don’t think it really matters how I feel. We’re going and that’s that.
There may be others out there like me, sitting there and dreading the horror of revealing your not so ready for the SI Swimsuit Edition body. But all we can do is fight. And run.
Which means its time for a new playlist. And it soooo rocks.
1. Love Sex Magic – Ciara and JT (it’s always good to warm up with some JT).
2. Crowded – Jeannie Ortega
3. Untouched – The Veronicas (Speed up here – I dare you to run to the beat)
4. Welcome to the World – Kevin Rudolf
5. Supermassive Black Hole – Muse (from the Twilight soundtrack – you know, the music from the baseball game. Yeah, it rocks)
6. Love Struck – V Factory (Another speed drill – don’t worry, the beat is too infectious to slow down!)
7. Scream – Michael & Janet (because it is awesome)
8. Boom Boom Pow – Black Eyed Peas (it grows on you after a while)
That’s about 30 minutes and if you do the speed drills, it’ll kick your butt. Don’t forget to drink plenty of water!

And no, there will not be pictures of me at said water park. So sorry.
Maybe we should start a pale girl club...The Pastels? Sigh. At least you can run. I will always be jealous of that. =)
ReplyDeleteI live in South Florida and swimsuit season started a month ago! I wasn't ready, I'm still not ready, I really need to get on the ball!
ReplyDeleteWhile reading the part about Chris' love for you a song came to mind "I love you just the way you are." Isn't it great that our husbands love us in spite of our imperfections? Personally I think it's great that we don't have to worry about "those annoying tan lines"!
ReplyDeleteLove you, Martha
Boo. I have to wear one too right? Maybe I should do the fast before the water park. I think I am going to wear shorts and a T-shirt over mine.
