Thanks Meredith! You know, it’s a cryin’ shame school work prevents you from writing because you’re pretty good at it. Hurry up and graduate so you can focus your energy on entertaining us. Pretty please.
Okay, so here are the rules:
1. When given the award, you write about seven things that you love.
2. Pass the award to seven bloggers that you love, and be sure to tag them and let them know they've won. (You can copy the award and post it on your sideboard.)
So I’m with Meredith here. There are some things that are foregone conclusions like God, family and friends. Then there are other things everyone knows I love like running, Taco Bell, shopping and scrapbooking. I’m gonna attempt to be interesting here and come up with 7 brand new and exciting things I love that you guys don’t already know.
Yeah, I know. Not likely.
1. Kelly Green – I love this color. One, I look good in it and two it’s always in style. There’s something about a green tee shirt and white pants that just makes me feel giggly.
2. Driving a stick shift – I got my stick shift car when I was in college. I had no idea how to drive it but I loved the car enough to learn. Dad gave me a few lessons and then said, you wanted it now you figure out how to drive it. I thought I would die trying to drive that car around hilly Birmingham but once I figured it out, I was in love. I miss that car.
3. Family History – Okay, totally not the same thing as family in general. Anyway, I love hearing about my mom’s childhood (in all it’s glory) or reading post cards from Chris’ great-grandfather. I love history period but bring it close to home and you have my full attention.
4. Cleaning – I sort of won over my in-laws by cleaning. They may disagree but that’s what I think. This past Christmas, all the family went in the living room to play a game but I had started cleaning up after lunch and well, once I get started, there’s really no way for me to stop. One aunt pointed out that she understood we had decided to wait to clean up and my FIL said, “you leave her alone; she’s doing just fine” and then gave me a hug.
5. Entertaining – In my previous life (where I actually planned events and parties and things that made people happy instead of telling people that, honestly, what happened at the bar on Saturday night is not a justifiable excuse for missing work on Monday), I did this a lot. Now it’s just the occasional event “bone” I get thrown so I don’t go insane. Or, it’s the couples we invite over for lunch after church on Sundays (since I can’t go out to eat and all). I had a blast getting ready for our families to come for Thanksgiving. My dad walked in and saw the dining room table all decorated and he said, well, I see no one went to any trouble. Ah, sweet success.
6. Platform high heels – I like being tall. But I am very disappointed I maxed out a 5’8”. I was shooting for 5’10” at least. The heels help. True story: I had on my favorite heels at work one day as I was summoned to go across the street on an errand. The boss said, not sure you’ll be able to keep up in those heels though. And I said, I’ve never had a man complain yet. He smiled and said you’re right about that. Love, love, love heels.
7. This blog – Okay but for a different reason this time. Apparently, I’m intimidating. My staff tells me that and then random people who don’t work for me or for that matter, really know me, agreed. I’m pretty reserved IRL. As Chris and I were discussing this (and BTW, he thinks it’s cool that people find me intimidating. Go figure.) he said, if they ever read your blog they wouldn’t feel that way. And then Fanny said she’s learned more about me than she ever knew thanks to this thing (which I find really strange considering I’ve told her everything about me). Anyway, I’m glad my blog friends, my family and my real life friends can get to know me through this less intimidating media.
Now I have to tag 7 blogs but honestly, I don’t have that many left. Meredith stole all the ones on the Evans’ side of the family. So I’ll have to do less than 7 and offer the other spot up for anyone else who would like to join in.

Yeah, sorry about that. I don't have very many blogger friends. :-)
ReplyDeleteJust want to make it perfectly clear that cleaning did not win me over, being who you are and loving my first born won me over years ago. Loving to clean is just an added bonus, which is super since still I struggle to motivate myself to complete that chore and even my best effort is nothing compared to your worst effort. Love you. Martha
ReplyDeleteSo cute!! Thank you!
ReplyDeleteHey, I love your blog and I know all about your history. Not so much now you're so far away. All you girls are amazing bloggers!! I love to read them. Love, Mom
