No free rides in our house…

Our littlest cousin on my MIL’s side is doing a project at school. I’m sure you’ve heard of Flat Stanley and if not, find a kindergartener nearby and have them enlighten you. Cousin Jonythan created a flat version of himself and has been making the rounds in the family.

We were very disappointed when he didn’t make to our house in time for the egg retrieval and embryo transfer. Now THAT would have been a story to tell.

So far, from what I can tell, Flat Jonythan has helped make Jello and been to Mardi Gras.

And that’s all I know. Because no one else besides my SIL has a blog to tell us what they’ve been doing with Flat Jonythan.

But we’re all pretty responsible folks, so I’m sure everyone has taken him to all kinds of cool places. However, in our little world, we’re kind of bogged down in concert season.

Chris has his concert competition next week (UIL to all the TX band geeks out there) and to say he’s been a little stressed is an understatement. I think we went almost a full week without seeing each other recently. Although I can’t remember the exact week. It’s all kind of running together these days.

Anyway, UIL means that when Chris is at home, chores have to be done. We got out of bed Saturday morning and went to work.

And Flat Jonythan had to help. Chores were divided up. F.J. spent most of Friday with me doing grocery shopping. Organic eating means hitting three grocery stores and it takes a large amount of time. So much in fact that I didn’t have time to take his picture.

Saturday, F.J. helped dust and then made lunch for us. Chicken salad. Yum.

Then after he cleaned up lunch he headed outside to help Cousin Chris clean out the flower beds. That’s a lot of mulch but he managed.

We’re aware we need to take F.J. somewhere interesting but honestly, I’ve got my doubts. I’ll bring him to work this week and we’ll both go see Chris’ last pre-UIL concert on Saturday. Other than that, I make no promises.

Except for this one: He will watch American Idol. Hope that’s not past his bedtime.

  1. This is great! I'm so proud that y'all took the time to include F.J. in your chores. What a great idea that some smart teacher came up with to expose children to all kinds of things. Miss y'all. We had supper with your folks the other night. Had a great time but missed y'all. Love you. Martha

  2. Hey, I think dusting and mulch totally qualify as exciting things. And seriously, it'd be tough to top Mardi Gras for anyone. He just happened to be here at the right time. Besides, you know, he went to Sunday School and got saved when he was here, too. :-)
