Gratitude Friday…
Another long week. Really, I keep thinking this will lighten up any day but so far nothing. I have so much to say. There are pictures of my new office, stories of my rockin’ commute, shopping info – all need to be shared. But alas, I have no energy to write.
My list this week is short. Really short.
I am grateful for pants with a cuff.
Tall girls, you know what I’m talkin’ about.
In the past couple of weeks, my one goal in what little free time I did have was to let out the cuffs on four pairs of pants. I have done three so far. And I love them. When the bottom of my pant leg is a mere ½ inch off the floor, I am content. To me, this makes my legs look like they are 3 miles long which is never a bad thing.
I adore being tall. Seriously, I’m disappointed I maxed out at 5’ 8”. I also happen to love platform high heels. They add about 4 inches which is almost tall enough.
But, being tall means I hate buying pants. They’re never just right. I always have to check out the hem to see if there’s enough to let out. Sure some stores are proud to have us tall women shop with them so they put their tall pants right out on display for us to purchase. But other stores hide their tall clothing away on in the internet like they are ashamed of us and prefer to only sell to average sized and petite women in their stores.
For shame!
Now, It may seem a little odd to be grateful for such a thing as pants that are long enough so I’ll explain.
Brace yourself. I like to look nice.
I know, I can see the shocked look on your face.
Honestly, I was the girl ironing her clothes for the first day of school a week in advance. I would wear skirts and roll my hair on days I had a major test. I even did that in college (minus the hot rollers). To me, the way I dress impacts the way I feel and heretofore (I love Legally Blonde), the way I work. And since I’ve been doing nothing but work these past four weeks, that’s a big deal. Pants at the right length make me feel good so when something else goes wrong, it might not sting as much.
Thank you Lord for the little things in life we often take for granted.

I don't feel gratitude for long pants. Most pants are to long,They do look with the right pair of shoes. Tough to find the right shoes for these pants. I feel gratitude for the right shoes that has the right heal for those long pants.Mom
ReplyDeleteIt's not a problem with men's clothes. We just go ahead and embrace it, calling our stores "Big and Tall." Could you imagine such honesty in women's clothing?
ReplyDeleteOh dear, this is just getting wierder and wierder, I too am 5'8" tall and absolutely LOVE it. I love sky-high heals too and have trouble finding jeans long enough for my legs. Yay for tall girls! =)
