We had such a wonderful weekend in Oklahoma. My company has a suite at OU and we had the opportunity to watch the Sooners from the lap of luxury.
Here is the picture from our parking space looking at the stadium.
It was a long walk but we suffered through.
We arrived about 2 hours before kick-off and went straight to the Pride’s pregame concert on the south lawn. I have two words for that:
Hot and fabulous.
I couldn’t believe how hot it was for the 4th game of the season. I was melting. The half-time show featured The Who so I thoroughly enjoyed singing along to “Pinball Wizard”. The band sounds fabulous. Really, I don’t remember them sounding better. We decided to head straight to the suite after the concert so we could watch the end of the Auburn game.
It wasn’t pretty but we won and it was over.
While we were in line for the elevator up to the suites, two gentlemen behind us where discussing the SEC. Specifically, they were talking about the Iron Bowl. One of the guys had been to the Auburn/Alabama game twice and said it was almost as serious as OU/TX (thoughts on that during a later post). The other one then asked if that’s what they refer to as “The World’s Largest Cocktail Party” and Chris and I, as if on cue, said in unison, that’s Georgia/Florida. The guy said, wow, that sounds like some experts speaking. Yes, yes, we are SEC.
We were the first to arrive in the suite. I took pictures because, well, I’m tired of acting like I’m unimpressed by the perks my company offers. The last time I was in a suite was in college when I was WORKING in one as hostess in the suites at Auburn. It was a way cool job and the first time I decided I could so work for the wealthy people of the world. Good decision on my part.
So here’s the suite looking towards the stadium:
Here’s the back of the suite with the food:

And then here’s the view from the suite which, darn, was on the 50 yard line:

Oh, by the way, that’s Chris’ drill for the OU and even though you can’t hear it now, I seriously enjoyed listening to the first down “cheer” (really, it’s a song) which Chris also wrote.
Too bad we’re not charging The Pride to use those.
Apart from the Georgia game going on at the same time as OU’s, we had a really great time. We both loved watching the Sooners offense. TCU completely shut down the run so we had to score through the air. 400 + yards of passing offense and I don’t care who you are, that’s way fun to watch.
About half way through the 3rd quarter, Chris looked at me and said “We’re at Oklahoma”. I said, yes, dear, did you miss the signs on the interstate as we drove those 3 hours to get here? He then got all deep on me and just pointed out how crazy it seems that we’re where we are. Certainly nothing like what we expected either as kids growing up or as a young married couple. So true. The Lord must have so much fun listening to the dreams of little ones. Oh, my child, if you only knew where I will lead you! The Lord just thought we needed to broaden our horizons and sent us to the Big 12.
