Still no pictures from Puddin’! But Chris was kind enough to email me the few he took. I promise there’s a picture of Noah and me playing at the tailgate and a family picture from Sunday morning at Mom’s. Hopefully, these pictures will appear this week.
For now, here are my insights from this weekend of deep thoughts and large quantities of food.
I totally underestimated the cute quotient. I had completely forgotten how cute the girls dress for games in Auburn. There were so many fabulous orange and blue sundresses complete with orange and blue accessories and oddly, flip flops. Apparently, wearing the flip flops makes the silk sundress more casual. Anyway, I felt distinctly un-cute. I opted for comfort and went with tennis shoes. Such a big mistake. The more appropriate selection would have been my white patent wedges. Perhaps I wouldn’t have felt so old and frumpy with those on instead.
Having a sick starting punter is bad.
The “Plains” is a complete joke. We are now 2 full days post game day and my legs still hurt. We walked from our tailgating spot behind Ander’s to Toomer’s Corner and then back the other way to visit friends on Donahue. Then of course the walk to the stadium, back from the stadium to Chick-fil-a (I so needed a Cookies and Cream Shake after that game) and finally returned to the tailgate. All in all I feel certain we walked 12 miles and my legs are feeling it.
Noah is the cutest nephew in the entire free world.
It’s even better to be an Auburn Tiger these days. Campus looks amazing. The new student union is outstanding and considering we started paying for that when I was a student, it was nice to see something really wonderful created. I feel certain I would have spent some serious study time there instead of in the library. The athletic department’s marketing campaign is fabulous. All those videos before the game and then in between quarters were so great and really got the crowd involved. Auburn people have always felt like a family but the videos really drove that home. The band has come light years from what it was when I was in school. The new pre-game is moving, the auxiliaries look great and for Joe Average Fan, they sound fabulous (my husband has some issues but there’s nothing I can do about that).

Injuring the opposing team’s starting quarterback only to have the back up come in and throw like a champ is bad.
It is a very surreal experience to meet someone for the first time but who has read your blog and knows all about you. Apparently, much to Chris’ delight, our birthday cheer video for mom was a big hit. It’s been passed along to several friends and family members and thankfully, they all liked it. But when a childhood friend and his girlfriend (who was lovely by the way!) came to the tailgate and both told us how funny it was, I swear to you I had a small stoke. Don’t get me wrong, I am THRILLED people enjoyed it but I guess I just thought the 3 people reading this were keeping it to themselves.
I am very much looking forward to next year’s 22 verbally committed recruits who are joining us because of this fancy and ridiculously frustrating offense.
And my final thought remains the same as previously stated: Win or lose its great to be an Auburn Tiger. I have pictures to prove that too. See. Smiling before, during and after the game. Although significantly more tired after the game which is good because you can't see my wrinkles as easily then!

War Eagle!
ReplyDeleteYou are so good with pictures. I never take pictures! Except of my dog!
