Gratitude Thursday…
Tomorrow is another family birthday! Mom!!!! So, of course, I will be saving tomorrow’s post for a special birthday message.
This weekend will be spent inside watching Ike through our wall of windows. Chris suggested I pick out some hardware for the kitchen cabinets so we can at least be productive while trapped indoors. I think I remember counting 39 doors or drawers that will need knobs. That’s just obscene. Anyway, apart from a stop at Lowe’s for hardware, I suspect I’ll need to go by a grocery store and purchase bread and milk which we all know are the required purchases for bad weather. We are actually out of milk which is leaving my Cocoa Pebbles very lonely. I’m gonna go out on a limb and say the loaf of bread I bought a few weeks back (and buy every month only to throw out weeks later because neither of us eats sandwiches) will still be taking up a shelf in the pantry post-Ike. But that’s just a guess on my part.
Okay, that had nothing to do with the point of this post. Without further ado (or pointless ramblings) here’s my gratitude list this week:
1. Blog music – I am a horrible blog stalker. It’s embarrassing. Mostly they’re blogs of other women going through infertility. I’ve learned a lot about this process by reading their stories. They are all Christian women whose hearts’ desire is to follow the Lord’s will for their lives. And I love their music. Not so surprisingly, they share several of the same songs and I can’t get enough of “Praise You in This Storm” by Casting Crowns or “When Love Takes You In” by Stephen Curtis Chapman so I don’t mind. I just open up a blog and then minimize it while the music fills my little cubicle. Makes the day so nice.
2. Long Lost Cousin – Such wonderful emails this week! They helped me feel connected to family in a way that’s hard to describe. From the moment I met both sides of Chris’ extended family, I knew I was home. They took me in, with all my flaws, and loved me. It’s been a big change for me to have cousins since my brother and I were it as far as grandkids went for our entire childhood. We have 3 cousins now but they are all under the age of 6. I love seeing all of Chris’ aunts, uncles, cousins and grandparents! It’s just not often enough.
3. Blog Videos – I have watched my nephew, Noah, (I think I may have mentioned him once or 50 times) crawl and laugh about 76 times over the past 2 days. Seriously, it was hard to work yesterday because that’s all I wanted to do. During this week when we’ve gotten some less than outstanding news and when hormones play little games with my emotions, Noah laughing completely turned all that around. It’s hard to be sad when someone you love and adore is so full of joy! I know there’s a good bit of work that goes into the getting the videos posted so thank you, thank you, thank you to Adam and Carrie for taking the time to do that. I’m 150% certain they’re not doing them just for us but when I’m watching Noah take a bath, I feel like he’s smiling just for me.
4. Connected – It’s so strange to me how a blog can keep and bring people together. Family, of course, is important. But in all my stalking, I’m noticing how people are finding support and encouragement across miles and miles. People with the same doctor, people who graduated from the same college, people who can offer guidance since they’ve been through the same experience and most importantly people praying for one another. With a blog, you may be anonymous but I can still pray for you by your blog name. Sometimes I feel like if I passed one of these wonderful women on the street, the Lord would stop me right there and I would immediately recognize her.
We love you all and are so grateful for all your calls, emails and prayers! We’ll be home in a week to visit God’s country in Auburn, see some great friends, love on our family and very likely eat some Jim n’Nicks. And see Noah!!! I don’t care how much that sweet child wiggles, he’s getting lots of kisses and hugs from Aunt Bobbin!!!

Awesome! I'm praying for you and hoping everything with Ike and the tests goes well. I love Praise you in the Storm too!
