Gratitude Friday...
I'm late! I'm late! For a very important date!
We've just landed and I am now settled into my chair after having taken the most glorious shower ever in my own house. After a week of vacation, I am feeling pretty good. Here's my gratitude list from this week:
1. White Patent Leather Wedge Shoes - Ah, a pair of shoes I bought completely on a whim turned out to be my best foot friends this week. They made it through 62 miles of subway tunnels in NYC, then helped me walk semi-normally with a gimp ankle in Antigua and finally held up in another round of NYC adventures through China Town and Little Italy. Not a single blister. Not a stubbed toe. Not a sore sole. And a slightly less gimpy ankle. Bliss.
2. Books - I managed to read 3 chick lit books this week. One of them was literally, laugh-out-loud hilarious. I love reading. I always have. But life gets in the way giving me barely enough time to keep up with my celebrity gossip reading. No way I'd have time to read a book AND my weekly copy of People. This week, I didn't have to chose.
3. Holding Hands Peer Pressure - Almost immediately upon arriving at the resort, we realized everyone was holding hands. Going to dinner, holding hands. Going to the pool, holding hands. Going to the beach, holding hands. Seriously. It was every where. Chris grabbed my hand and I said something like we might get kicked out if we don't hold hands every minute of the day. So we did. And it was nice. We don't do that much anymore and I'm not really sure why. Not saying the habit will stick forever but its been nice to rediscover how perfectly how hands fit together.
4. An escape - On Wednesday night, our final night at the resort, I found myself pretty teary about coming back to real life. Really, real life is not that much fun some days. It's not the life I thought we'd have a year ago when we were getting ready to move. I still miss my job, our friends (I think I've mentioned that once or twice), our church, heck, I miss Chris's job (football season is coming and I still have a hard time not being with The Pride of OK). But while we were on vacation, I could pretty must put all of that out of my mind. It was nice to leave all that behind for a while. Everyone needs a rest.
5. Safe travels - Lost luggage, forgotten shuttle services, an hour waiting for a gate besides, we were kept safe during all of our travels. And considering we had 4 flights, 3 hotels and 2 countries, that's pretty impressive. The Lord is with us always. He would have even been with us had we been kidnapped by the non-taxi taxi guy. I love knowing He's watching over us. All the time.
