Why is this so hard?

For the past 6 months, we’ve been attempting to plan our summer vacation. Really, I think Edison had an easier time making the light bulb work. The problem is twofold:

1. My only requirements have been that it needed to be somewhere warm, sunny and on a beach. That leaves things pretty wide open. I really should have been more specific and maybe in the beginning I was but the more we researched and discussed and pondered, the more I just didn’t care. Seriously, just pick something.

2. We kept saying we weren’t all that concerned about the dough we’re dropping on this trip. We’ve spent the last 7 ½ years spending our vacation time either on a bowl trip with The Pride of Oklahoma or at home visiting family. We took weekend trips but not much more. So for this trip, we wanted to do something fun and if it cost a little more so be it. That is until we had to hit the “confirm” button. Then all the sudden our fingers were paralyzed. Apparently spending other people’s money on fancy vacations that I’ll never go on is relatively simple. Our own money? That’s another story.

We discussed everywhere from Miami to Bermuda to Hawaii to St. Lucia. No island was left unturned. Except for Jamaica and Aruba. I have issues with both of those. And if you know me at all you know to just accept that as fact and move on.

So it is with great joy and exuberance that I announce to you…

We have booked our vacation!

It’s the little things that make me the happiest.

So now it’s time to plan the vacation wardrobe and manage to convince myself that being the palest person on the beach will not matter. I am more than my paleness…I am more than my paleness…
