My how fast little people grow! My nephew was just a tiny 6 lbs when I first met him. He was lying peacefully in the NICU snuggled next to his Aubie. I couldn’t believe my brother was a dad. I couldn’t believe he was dad to such a cutie too.

The day Noah was born, and the months leading up to his arrival, had been stressful. My brother called me late that night after the family had gone home and Carrie was sleeping. We talked about the experience. I'll cherish that phone call for the rest of my life.

Noah got to come home a few days after our first meeting. That was the first time I really got to hold him. This picture is still the wall paper for my Blackberry. I just love how sweet and small he looks.

Then just a little over 5 weeks later, we returned home for Christmas. Our first stop was to see Noah. He was so big! I just sat and held him the entire time we were there. There really is nothing like holding a sleeping baby. It’s so peaceful and calming. Now, once they wake up and start crying, it’s back to mom. That’s the joy of being the aunt.

But the entire Christmas holiday with Noah was sleepy and peaceful. He didn’t wake up very much and really who could blame the little guy. I’d sleep all day too if I could. Sure he slept through opening presents but he also slept through picking up the discarded wrapping paper and cleaning the kitchen. Being a newborn is not a bad gig from what I can tell.

Now he’s four and half months old. Hard to believe how fast he’s gone from sleeping newborn to such a little man! I can't wait to hold him again! Although I suspect it won't be as peaceful as the last time but that's okay. I'll happily take any time even if he is crying!

  2. Today, he weighed in at 16.5 pounds, roughly 10 pounds more than his birthweight. He is 26.5 inches long. He's in the 95th percentile for length. He's a long one.
