Chicago: Day 2...

First, let's discuss this crazy blogging ROLL I am on here!  Good. Night.  I feel like there's a golf-clap for me somewhere.  Even if its just me golf-clapping myself.

Okay, so Day 2.

You'll be happy to know our plan to sleep in late and watch The Today Show all snuggled in our respective beds was a HUGE SUCCESS.  Lazy mornings are just not something mommas get to do pretty much ever.

Sometime around 10 am, I went for a run.  But I was so sore from walking all over Chicago the day before, I gave up and rode the elliptical.  I'm a suburban girl.  We don't walk.  We drive.  All day long.

My hamstrings were quick to remind me of that fact.

So what should two suburban chicks completely sore from walking all over the big city do?

GO ICE SKATING

Clearly.

And, like a cherry on top of the sore hamstring sundae, we got lost getting there.

Google maps walking directions were not our strong suit.  Although, we swore to keep our getting lost a secret.  What happens in Chicago, stays in Chicago.  But whatever.  It's too funny.

Little known fact about me:  I took ice skating lessons as a kid.  Please know absolutely none of those lessons stuck.  Not that I was kicking out some triple axles or anything.  But I THINK I might have known how to skate backwards.

Now I struggle to skate forward.

Anyway, easily, we were the oldest ice skaters by about 20 years.  So. Many. Teenagers.

They're the only ones who's ankles are strong enough to take that kind of beating.

We had a good time.  Feeling older than dirt is just a blast.  But we didn't fall.

Boom.

We took approximately 93 selfies before we got one that met Mrs. JT's selfie standards.  She's real specific.  I looked basically the same in all of them.  And shhhhh...I couldn't tell a difference in her either.  The angle of the shot?  Yes.  So I guess that does change things.  But mostly, I'm the same pale, wrinkling 39 year old from every angle.

That's me.  In the middle.  Not holding on to the railing.  Because I am awesome.

This is a random Christmas tree we found walking back to our hotel.  It was pretty.  That's all.

We walked back, with a little less lostness, and moaned the entire time.  And said, "We are old," approximately the same number of times we took selfies.

That night was The Lion King.  We had shopped on Wednesday and a Christmas miracle occurred when I found a gorgeous holiday red dress at Banana Republic.  I ADORE the Banana on Michigan Avenue.  It's three stories high.  I can get lost in there.  And their clearance section is massive.

Which is exactly where I found my red dress.  Score!

We got all dressed up for the show.  The band kids (and directors) were told to wear suits and dresses.  Teenage boys in suits are just about the most adorably awkward thing ever.  They didn't disappoint.

I'm not a huge musical fan.  But The Lion King was worth it just to see the costumes.  Amazing.  I kept sitting there thinking what a creative God we serve.  He gave someone the ability to create those.  He's just good, y'all.

This was the first time I'd seen Chris on the trip.  Or really, since 5:30 am on the Monday we left Texas.  He cleans up real nice.

We found this selfie hard to take.  Chris has the latest iPhone and well, it's super sensitive.  It kept taking blurry pictures.  This was the best we could do.  But good news, you can still see my wrinkles. So my argument about me looking basically the same in every photo remains true.

After the show, we had to walk several blocks to get a taxi.  In our heeled boots.  After ice skating.

We hurt.

And we were tired.

We went on to bed pretty soon after we got back to the hotel because the next morning we had to get moving to be at the CONCERT!

Day 3 coming soon!
